Jan. 8th, 2015 08:08 pm* There was another attack just South of Paris. A police woman was killed and a street cleaner seriously injured.
* Someone tossed three grenades into a Mosque in Le Mans and fired a gun at a Muslim prayer Hall in Narbonne. There was an explosion near a brochette shop in Villefranche-sur-Saone, but no one was hurt.
* I keep thinking of the bombings of the late '70's and Early '80's.
* French police arrested seven associates of the suspects in the shooting. The 18 year old who turned himself in may have an alibi, having been in school when the Charlie Shootings happened.
* Charlie Hebdo has vowed to continue publishing and money has already been raised for an extra large print run. I really appreciated the BBC following their live broadcast of the moment of silence with interviews with 12th Arrondissement Muslim Shopkeepers condemning the violence. I loved that cartoonists in Egypt and Syria are doing cartoons in solidarity with the Charlie Hebdo survivors. Let's not let anger lead to blanket prejudice and violence in the wake of tragedy.
* The EU's forced Austerity in respond to the world financial crisis has damaged their economy so much they are now experiencing Deflation. For those of you not into Economics, they have basically followed right wing economic theories that are contrary to reality to the point they are in process of creating a Europe wide Depression. Remember that this is what the Republican Party here in the US and the Tory Party in the UK want to do too, presumably in hopes of creating a world wide Great Depression. Can we please, please, please go back to following Keynes? His theories are strongly supported by fact instead of one discredited study with bad math like this supply side austerity bull shit.
* A Media outlet has forced the Cleveland police to release footage of the police tackling and subduing Tamir Rice's fourteen year old sister, hand cuffing the horrified, grieving child and locking her away from her dying brother. They completely ignored the child who was literally bleeding to death after the police drive by.
* Towards the top of the Republican agenda for the new Congress is stripping social security for disabled people and rewriting the tax code to further favor corporations and the 1%. After all, some of them still have to pay something.
