* Today while I was sleeping, Tavy and I had a battle over what he can and can't do on the bed that led to me having to strip my bed and medicate him. He is the most forgiving cat I ever lived with when it comes to medication. Oh he hates it and will fight and/or flee, but two minuets after, we are friends again. I went out to forage despite the air quality and came home right after. Meds are sorted and ordered for Monday.

* One of my occasional hobbies is trying to find castles I liked as a young teen based of architectural details I remember and a vague knowledge of them being driving distance from certain locations in France. I got all excited this evening thinking I'd tracked one down, but the kitchen was too sparse and modern and the interior too hotel like. then I thought I'd spotted a different one from its kitchen, but the roofs were wrong. My parents being dead, I can't just ask. The upside is, I often find interesting places I will never go, but can at least look at.

It has been pointed out by a lawyer (I think on NPR, but I don't honestly remember who was doing the interview) that because of the way US treason laws are written, unless we are in a declared (by congress) war with the country in question, doing stuff for them at the expense of the US isn't technically treason. Now, he also pointed out that the stuff Trump has done violates a bunch of other laws and is bad, but it's not /technically/ treason.

But seriously before it can legally be treason you need a war-war, not a police action or any other quasi-war. And /then/ you need either two witnesses to the same overt act or confession in court. (The last case was 1952 about a Japanese-American who was tormenting American prisoners of war being held by Japan during WWII. And while he was convicted, the sentence was commuted to life in prison.)

Most of the cases we think of as treason were actually espionage cases.

I realize not technically treason under US law. Still, Our country is underattack by Russia cyber terrorism, so I feel comfortable short handing it that way.
