* The Patreus thing is getting weirder as it's looking like Gen. Allen has also sent Ms. Kelley inappropriate emails and along with Patreus tried to interfere in her sister's custody dispute with her ex-husband. It's turning into a real soap opera. It also turns our that the reason the Congressional Republicans got told about the sex before the White House or the Intelligence committee is because that FBI agent obsessed with Ms. Kelley told them about it without going through the chain of command. Even though the President wasn't told about it until after the election, Republicans continue to claim that he covered it up because of the election. I'm adding this to the list of Time Travelling Obama claims by the Right, as for the Conspiracy theory to work, he would have had to go back in time to tell himself about it and then cover it up.

* Remember that homophobe in the Michigan attorney general's office who was fired for stalking and libeling a gay college student? The student got a juicy settlement over the stalking, but a judge decided that the right for a public official stalking, harassing, and defame a private citizen is protected speech, so he should get unemployment insurance paid for by taxpayers even though he was fired for misconduct. There is going to be an appeal.

* I'm still taking it slow because of the ick. Clearly, drinking all that orange juice the last couple days helped, but I'm still felling yuck.

* Re: Grim's Wu. There is a tendency to make Asian men desexualized comedy side kicks. I'd like to see them flesh him out into a whole person, because having him be just a comedy sidekick is like having a gay best friend or a magical negro. Twenty years ago it might have counted as representation, now it's a stereotype, if that makes sense. They've been doing a good job iof fleshing out Hank, or I have hopes they can improve.

Also: I hate amnesia plots the way I hate retcons. There's also an annoying shortage of fleshed out female characters.

* Israel has killed an Hamas military chief during an air assault on Gaza. Apparently they've been exchanging artillery and air strikes over the course of nine hours or so. Claims about who fired first conflict. There is talk of a possible ground war, though it hasn't been ordered yet. Fuck.

* A woman called Savita Halappanavar just died of septicemia in Ireland because they refused her a D & C when she was miscarrying last month, as abortions are illegal there. One more woman died unnecessarily in the name of this "pro-life" bullshit. I refuse to call them pro-life when they are quite literally killing adult women in the name of their religion.

* There was a heartbreaking Amber alert last night. A fifteen year old girl with serious intellectual challenges last seen being lured away by a level one sex offender. I can't see that turning out well. Damn.
