Sep. 1st, 2012 01:54 am* Four people are dead from Isaac, including a couple who drowned in their kitchen because once the water topped the levee it came on too fast for them to get too their attic, let allone leave. Large areas remain too flooded for people to return, and there are still people without power as far inland as Arkansas. It sounds like Mississippi took some of the worst damage, with there beibg ongoing issues with them trying to lower the water behind a dam before it breaches without flooding folks down river all over again.

* Yes, I am aware of and have seen, the Clint Eastwood thing. It made me sad.
* Wow Reince Priebus is a smug, condescending back of dicks.
* They are showing the Birther propaganda film at the theater about a block from here. It's in week two, which surprises me. I didn't know we had enough Birthers here to make a multiple week showing viable, but our theaters attract folks from outlying farming communities, so I guess that's what's going on. Sigh. Remember how I said, "Scratch the blue, you get red?" Yeah, that.

* I'm rather better today, but as this month's money was in the account, I got magic soup while I was out paying bills. I am of course, now queasy, but my head already feels a little clearer and my fever is gone. The blue is now everywhere. The trim is random, as they have multiple teams doing sections at random rates. It still looks like progress. Hector's still difficult, but he looks to be deescalating.
* Fever dreams colliding with my usual batch of school starting early autumn dreams are not take me to a good place. (When the weather turns cool and wet, I traditionally dream start of school teaching dreams mixed with starting various years of high school or college dreams, which is not a problem normally, but add hyper intense fever dream stuff and... not pretty). I really miss teaching. I likely always will. Another sign of Autumn is Mache wanting to spend all evening using my leg as a pillow or back rest, soaking up the pettins and body heat. She's the cat has the hardest time in Summer as the same ridiculously thick undercoat that makes her by far the softest adult cat I've ever petted, makes humid summer days torture for her, poor wee beastie. Now that it's snuggling seaso, she's trying to make up for lost time by grabbing a whole season of pets at once.
* The Snoqualamie test flavour of the month is Raspberry Pomegranate sorbet. It is Raspberry dominant, but the pomegranate renders it delightfully tart.
