* Syria is claiming credit for having shot down a Turkish plane.

* Yes, I've seen the video of the horrible 7th grade boys bullying, threatening to harm, and telling a 68 year old grandmother she should kill herself. It's a terrible thing and I hope the parents and school come down on them like a ton of bricks. (The victim has declined to press criminal charges, though it sounds like the police would have been willing to arrest them.) Y'all know I'm no coddler of bullies,. At the same time? If you are a grown person sending graphic death threats to a seventh grader, you are a bully and a shitty human being. What sort of person does that? Its absolutely not okay for a pack of middle schoolers to bully an elderly woman, but it's not okay for a whole bunch of adults to do the same thing to children. I have a lot more respect for the folks chipping in money and gifts for the woman who was harassed. I think it's better to do something positive with one's anger than to continue the cycle of bullying and behave as bad or worse that the original bullies.

Let's all try to be decent to each other instead. From what I've heard the victim say, I'm pretty sure that she'd agree.

* Today I baked bread from scratch for the first time in... I'm thinking two apartments ago. omnomnom. I had forgotten just how good my bread is. I also did a bunch of small household chores. I'm finally recovering properly from the most recent pathogen. Today we had a proper thunderstorm, despite it being Spring instead of Fall. For those not living in my little corner of the PNW, it rains here all year round. A lot. Thunderstorms are fairly rare and mostly in the Fall. I think the cats had forgotten what thunder sounded like. The boom that signaled the storms start was close and loud and they all were alarmed. LM bolted for the safety of Squirrel's room, but the other three road it out with me, taking my calm turning off of unnecessary electronics as a sign that the world likely wasn't ending today. After the thunder passed on, it really poured, the hill outside the living room window was a river.
