* The violence in Egypt continues, with religious leaders siding with Democracy protesters. It turns out the elections are meant to be Monday, not this week as I said earlier. Apologies.

* Michelle Bachmann imagines that ACLU is interrogating our POWs, even though in the real world, it's still the CIA, and the ACLU doesn't do that. She is very angry about this "fact" she made up for the debate and is demanding that the thing that isn't happening stop.

Yes, it makes my head hurt too.

* A member of Sandusky's family has come forward with more abuse allegations, along with another younger victim. These have not been investigated yet, obviously, so details are not known.

* Rush Limbaugh called Michelle Obama "uppity." If your blood pressure isn't rising, you clearly don't know the history of that word applied to especially African American women and the privilege, racism, an sexism the use of it implies in the speaker.

* Seven members of a break away radical Ohio Amish sect have been arrested for hate crimes against other mainstream Amish. Rightly so. It's a form of religious terrorism, and deeply shaming to the men attacked. They are already considering Federal kidnapping charges because they were also holding folks prisoner in chicken coops. The leader sounds like he's edging into cult leader turf and I am glad they arrested him. (Things like the leader having sex with wives of followers to "cleanse them," manipulative behavior, and the escalating violence). I know some media sources are finding this hilarious, what with the silly to mainstream beards, but I am thinking of the terror of the wives as a gang of thugs pounds on the door to drag the husband away, and the fear of a man raised as a strict pacifist being manhandled by a gang of thugs who are dragging him by his hair. I don't care who is doing it: it's wrong and cruel.

* Neither of us got much sleep, but the furniture is here. I'm spending the evening working on sorting small things out, as the size of the box pile makes me tired just looking at it. I have found my pliers! I was finally able to fix my crutch. (Moving: spring cleaning on steroids). I've also been doing more kitchen unpacking, and pre-organizing the new stacks of boxes. Slow is likely all I could manage anyway, given the physical inconveniences I'm dealing with.

The cats found the whole thing terrifying. They were meant to be locked in my room, as all that was going in there today was my bed frame. (Now even more broken. I really need to save up for a new frame. The girls, being sensible beasts, hid. The boys staged a prison break. The Butt was quickly recaptured. Hector jammed himself in a corner, and we ended up guarding him during the process, which he found deeply traumatic. I had less sympathy than average, as I knew damned well, if he just stayed in the room, it would have been much safer and calmer. Also, he got me good with his claws.

Squirrel is ensconced in his room, I've been dealing with the cats all day. Fun fact: LM turns out to be just as capable of a two hour long sleep destroying howling jag as Hector. They've had goosh, pettins, and the catnip mouse. As I typed this, I was engaging in round three of "you aren't mature enough to be on the desk" with the Butt, who begs to differ. (I had not realized how rickety this table had gotten, and should really look into getting a replacement when there is more money.) When Squirrel got up, LM preceded to spend two hours holing for him to come pet her in the box maze. He left, she and the Butt howled for a while, then she went to bed in my room. Hector then opted to spend a couple hours howling for me to kick her out, which I refused to do as she wasn't breaking any rules. I long for silence, I do.

Friday-Wednesday, we'll start tackling what's left at the old place: more kitchen stuff, various sundries and keepsakes, more of my clothes for wrapping the fragile things, pictures, and of course cleaning supplies once the cleaning is done.

I now have a more permanent work station, though the main computer is not up and running yet because I haven't found the box with the parts. My desk is already a mess, mostly because things are in flux and waiting for more permanent homes. I do think my organizational scheme will work out, except for there being too many book shelves, and not enough cabinets.

We have a dinner invite for tomorrow, so I may be scarce. Food I don't have to cook! Yay!
