* If Europe can't solve their economic crisis quickly, they are now talking triple dip Recession over here, or full on depression, on top of the chaos the collapse of Greece, Spain, France, and a number of other country's economic systems and the real human suffering that would cause.

* Republicans continue to block all attempts to create jobs over here and continue to push tax cuts for corporations and the rich, because we know that won't help anyone but CEO's and the billionaires, who are the only people who count anymore.

For example, Herman Cain is advocated an extremely regressive tax. the goal is to shift the tax burden away from the rich, so that the poorer you are, the larger a percentage if you income you pay. This is because, the less you make, the more of your income you spend in a month. This is the opposite of the Buffet/Obama plan which is designed to raise to tax burden of the rich to middle class levels. Herman Cain's plan is projected to cut tax income of the federal government in half and since I'm doubting he plans to abolish the military, that means that you'd have to dismantle the entire social safety net and as it's the poor and middle class who rely on things like social security and public schools, the burden of making up for that financially will also fall heaviest on those who make the least. It the exact opposite of a fair tax code. it's also the exact opposite of fiscal responsible or good for the economy. It is, however, simple, so I'm betting people who don;'t know enough about economics will fall in behind it.

* While we're discussing Herman Cain, he believes that Sharia Law is over taking America. May I repeat that not only is there a constitutional bar to mixing Church and state and that liberals are absolutely against theocratic government in America, but the only folks I see trying to impose theocratic Government in the US are Republican members of the Christian Right. I see he's also airing claims that giving women reproductive choice is about genocide against African Americans. Charming. I suppose this is part and parcel with his belief that African Americans are too "brain washed" to make decisions for themselves in the voting booth. I mean if they are incapable of choosing who to vote for, of course the female members couldn't possibly decide personal reproductive issues for themselves. *shudder* He's creeping me out, honestly. It's like he's two steps away from being a character out of a Dave Chapelle sketch, or Uncle Ruckus from Boondocks. As is the case with a number of right wing figures, I'm wondering if he can honestly believe in the things he claims to, or if it's about personal power. (With Bachmann, Engle, Rand, and Gommert, I come down on the side of them being heavily divorced from reality. With Boehner and McConnell, I think it's about personal power and money. I still can't decide with Beck, Cantor, and a variety of other Congress folk ).

* On the other hand, I saw Herman Cain claiming that the 81% of Americans who believe that the rich should pay a tax rate as high as a janitor are brainwashed into supporting class warfare, so maybe he just thinks anyone who disagrees with him is weak willed.

* Why am I on Herman Cain tonight? Y'all already know my problems with Romney, Perry, Bachmann, Paul, and to a certain extent huntsman and Gingrich, but I haven't spoken much about cain, because outside of a handful of bizarre statements earlier in the campaign that sent up red flags, I was not aware until now that he was seriously competing with the others on the massive collection of bad ideas, arrogance, and ignorance front. I don't think he's quite up to Bachmann levels, but he's in the bad idea hunt with Perry and Paul for certain.

I do give him full props for being brave enough to engage with opposition media instead of hiding over on FOX where they only lop the soft balls. I am certainly looking forward to seeing him doing the talk circuit as part of his run, as he's clearly willing to go off script and stand up for his own opinions.

* Yes, I've seen the footage of the brutal police beat downs of unarmed, unresisting protesters. The group night stick beatings and group kickings of downed folk curled into balls is reminiscent of archive footage of that infamous democratic convention the year before I was born Luckily, no one was killed last night.

* The DC March, was actually a scheduled Peace March, that reached out to the Occupy Wakll street folks to combine. It an older crowd than the New York protest. Ugliness is clearly brewing in San Franscico, so I'm expecting more police brutality there in the near future.

* Glenn Beck is joining the chorus of right wing voices calling occupy Wall Street protesters NAZIs.

* RIP Derrick Bell, who's accomplishments are difficult to sum up, so I'm just sending you to the obit: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/06/us/derrick-bell-pioneering-harvard-law-professor-dies-at-80.html?_r=1

* Civil rights activist Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth is also gone. it seems it's already a rough month for civil rights activists: http://www.chicagotribune.com/site/newspaper/news/sc-nw-shuttlesworth-1006-20111006,0,1384310.story

* Hector let me sleep until alarm time, which i did not resent. It's sounding like my beurocracy is mostly through it's trip through the bowels, and i need to go down to sign papers which should make housing search a little easier. I hope.

* This particular pathogen isn't that bad as these things go. My throat is sore and I'm coughing, but I can still breathe lieing down. I have a head and muscle aches, but compared to the AS and the fibro, it's nothing. The real issue is the fatigue. everything takes three or four times as long as it needs to and what I really want to do is sleep, not deal woith all these errands and apartment crap. It's costing about 4-6 spoons extra a day and I don't have a lot of spoons to start with.

* AMC is running a bunch of little webisodes with back story from a certain someone from season one, episode one of Walking Dead as a promo for season two. Obviously warning for zombies and violence. It starts here: http://www.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/videos/the-walking-dead-webisodes-1-a-new-day

* I saw American Horror Story. Extra points for the creepy baby photoes in the opener. The premiere was promising, though devoid of divercity except for one intellectually challenged character who's portrayal is not even close to posative. The acting's beautifully unnerving. It's got a Shining sort of feel plotwise, and a lovely, creepy american gothic design aesthetic. I'm willing to give it more time, for certain as it has a lot of potential. i do think it was more watchable than Bedlam, but I'm giving them more time to jell also.
