* FEMA is nearly out of money, but don't worry, Eric Cantor has reiterated his intention to block further funding unless more cuts that harm ordinary citizens are made. After all, people are in real distress, so it's an excellent time to score more political points and yet again hold the nation hostage to get yet more for the rich. After all, who cares if people have lost their homes, if the Republicans can grab even more power for themselves.

* Ron Paul and Rick Perry keep pushing for the abolishing of FEMA and all other forms of federal disaster Aid.

* Meanwhile, flood waters keep rising in Vermont. People are stranded without necessities. Republican politicians are determined they not get help for ideological reasons.

* So many people are out debunking Dick Cheney's book and dissecting his attack on Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice, that I'm not going to bother.

* We've got a date later in September to find out what's happening with our living situation. I'll let y'all know when I know.

* "Clockwork Chickens:" http://apex-magazine.com/2011/06/12/clockwork-chickens/

* There have been two more right wing anti-gay politicians who had gay sex scandals in the last week or so, one in Puerto Rica and one in Indiana. I know, we're all dying of not surprise, right?

* One salt Sea drops next week. Yay, October Daye!

* Another one for the "I bet there Mothers are real proud file:" http://neo-prodigy.livejournal.com/998603.html

* I still haven't dealt with Philly on the birth certificate stuff, but I'm actually mostly caught up on other bureaucracy and the internet, so I'm calling that progress, especially given my sore throat and general crud.

* Mellissa Harris Perry on why we need FEMA: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/ns/msnbc_tv-rachel_maddow_show/#44335500

* 2 million people are still without power, 45 people are dead, and a number of towns are still under water.

* Eric Cantor gave a speech today, renewing his commitment to hold disaster funding up unless we cut social programs that help the economy even further. Republicans followed up by claiming anyone pointing out that this is playing politics with a national disaster is the real one playing politics. How dare anyone point out the craven cruelty and political point scoring!

It's so circular it makes my head ache.

Suffice to say if you live in one of the flooded areas you are fucked because that's just how much Eric Cantor and the tea party hatred the middle class.

* Bonus points that when Eric Cantor's district was hard hit by an earlier hurricane, he did not demand "offsets" for Aid. nor did he demand offsets for the random and unnecessary invasion of Iraq, nor did he demands offsets for the oil subsidy.

* Meanwhile a major fire burns in the Dallas Fort Worth area, and we still haven't recovered from those tornadoes. Remember the tornadoes?

* To add insult to injury, Republicans are gearing up to block routine reappropriation for highway maintenance on the grounds firing large numbers of people magically creates jobs. Bonus points for the danger crumbling highways cause to commerce and military readiness.

* Yes, I'm aware of the latest round of pettiness over the President's joint address. I'm also aware of the latest Palin/Perry/O'Donnell Tea Party pettiness. I refuse to go there.

* I am aware of Glenn beck's race rant, and it is exactly as vile as you'd expect. I don't want to give him the hits, so I'm not linking.

* In Wisconsin, the number of teachers quitting this year doubled thanks to Republican policies we've covered here extensively. The same thing happened in Oregon after they lowered pay and stripped people's retirement benefits. This is always somehow a shock to people who don't teach, presumably because they have no empathy or ability to imagine how they would feel if it happened to them.

* Fighting continues in Libya around Qaddafi's home City. Qaddafi and his son Saif are still at large and feisty. I know it feels like the war is over as more than 90% of the country as well as the capital have fallen and all governments in the region except Algeria are already dealing with the provisional government

* I'm reading Home Improvements: Undead Edition, because Seanean MacGuire has a story in it. The first story is by Charlaine Harris and has so much fail I couldn't not write about it. not only is there gay fail, but the race fail made me feel dirty for holding the book in my hands let alone reading it. For example, who the fuck in the 21st century describes a part Asian American character as having "slanty eyes?" Charlaine Harris, that's who. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? WTFBBQ!!! I feel bad that Ms. MacGuire's story is sharing space with this dreck. No, I haven't read that far yet. The first story left me so horrified by the tower of fail that I had to put the vile thing down. I figured that the rest of you deserved some sort of warning.

Christ on a fucking cracker!
