* The Republican argument is basically that the Founding Fathers were such strong monarchists that they wanted an Imperial presidency where a Kinglike executive would be entirely above the law and allowed to commit any and all cries with impunity and that even the constitution doesn't apply to Presidents. Therefore it is completely legal for the president to commit crimes like treason, murder, wide scale corruption....

They keep claiming to be originalists and the only ones able to know what the framers intended. They are lying. They have always been lying when they claim this.

On the SCOTUS ruling about the case with the baker, /technically/ they actually didn't back the baker's claims, what they said was that the state body which made the ruling was openly biased which invalidated the ruling and kicked it back for the state courts to redecide. (They specifically /did not/ say that states couldn't have anti-discrimination laws and at least one of the opinions went into detail explaining how to do so without running up against this judgement.)

That said, it has, of course, emboldened the bigots and will lead to more people discriminating because they believe that they can and the bigots never read more than the headline. However, I think the more people who understand what the ruling did and did not actually say, the more people can push back against that narrative, so I still think it's important that we all understand what the ruling actually was and how incredibly narrow a ruling it was. (And, unlike our president, comprehend that 'narrow' in this case does not refer to margin of victory, but to the extent to which it can be applied to other cases, which is to say, it pretty much can't be.)
