* I went to bed early(ish) in hopes it would help. Alas the smoke detector screamers followed by loud moterized landscaping equipment made more than six hours of sleep impossible. I read a bunch of a delightful new ILL (An m/m supernatural romance anthology with at least two writers I already like very much, one of them local, and a first story that was excellent by someone i'd never heard of and who's books I clearly now need to read), watched the rest of an ILL movie i was not enjoying despite a deep fondness for the people acting the three lead rolls in other projects, did some start of the month financial things, and gave many cat pettins. I managed to spill an alarming amount of an oil when i was getting reading for shopping. I haven't done that in years, but I'm shaky today.
I went Downtown to put money down on a Bill, and to order a case of something I'm apt to use a lot of over the summer. It's expensive, so I was expecting to be only necessities otherwise, but they couldn't order it from the Supplier. I'm planning to ration and try again in August. I foolishly forgot my shopping list, so also forgot the ketchup I like that they sell which is low sodium and sugar. I raided their frozen food section for a few things and also bought most of the starts I want for this year. I hit the bargain grocery store to see what useful things they had and got a bit more than i strictly should have, but I still have half the allotment left for necessary things, so I should be all right. (Those two stores require a northern loop, and so are better done in a separate trip. Between Tuesday and today I used two tanks of gas, but it's too early to stress about that yet. I've also forgotten how much I still owe Honest Mechanic, but that also is Monday's problem. I have sorted all the things that would cause the whole edifice to collapse by the 10th. How ugly things get later in the month depends on how well the imp lots sell.
It was too early to wake Squirrel for help, which meant carrying all the things in myself. They are put away. I've been poor my whole life except for the first bit of High School between the move and when my little sister got sick, so having a full larder feels like safety to me. the starts are distributed. I'd still like a common basil, as the cats devoured the one I had inside, and maybe another tomato plant or two (and more potting soil and another stand and another big container to replace the dying one, but the world won't end without them), but the garden is mostly squared away for the year. There will inevitably be more forage starts to fill in the gaps.
I am exhausted and queasy, but I feel like today was productive.
* ...And the battery mouse died. Luckily a cord mouse came with a gift laptop, so I at least have a working mouse, but it means I can't switch back and forth to spread functions out. Sigh. On a day I'm still trying to catch up three days of news.
I drove all the way to the secular second hand store, found a mouse for a dollar fifty, Forced myself to grocery shop again, this time at the worst time of evening when the shops are full of loose toddlers and people who insist on blocking the whole aisle instead of staying to the left or right so people can pass, to wait in a half hour long check out line, because the stores share a shopping center and I only have gas for one northern loop plus Monday forage, only to get home to discover the mouse doesn't work with machines made this century. Wrong sort of plug. I hurt and I'm queasy and exhausted and I feel like I've been sparring.
