* Virginia Republicans shot down a candidate for judge solely on the grounds that he is gay, despite his military service as a navy fighter pilot and excellent record in the prosecutor's office.

* I had an appointment today, after which I discovered something has gone seriously wrong with my finances. (I suspect it has to do with the poorly written bureaucracy letter I relieved Thursday that I need to take in to be interpreted, but I suddenly went from just enough to cover key items to so fucked only extreme measures will sort it out). There was no time for bureaucracy today, as the appointment took all afternoon. I did take the black cats out, and they had a wonderful time. They sniffed, and nibbled, and explored, but they also discovered the spot where the sun between 5 and 6 PM warms the patio and a cat can sprawl there to the heart's content. The Butt would like to lodge official protest about his leash and harness as he totally thinks he's mature enough to go without even though he isn't. Hector "helpfully" spent the evening trying to get me to go to bed so he could sleep on me in there.
I really ought to do up some ebay lots, but nothing much is selling for a reasonable price right now but imp lots, and I pretty much blew my wad in March. I need to think about maybe paired bottle lots, but I'm suspecting they'll just go for a fraction of what they'd normally be worth. I hadn't the heart to do it tonight.
