1.4 Lorelei Signal. It only effects the men, who hallucinate. Uhura and nurse chapel are the only sensible PCs aboard apparently and lead an all woman science team. I love captain Uhura. Why doesn't effect the lesbians? Why does it effect the gay men? The boringly identical blond energy vampires suck the life out of the men. Of course. They named the leader "Vela" which is very on the nose. As always in plots like this, I wonder why they can't use the transporters to make people immortal by simply storing whatever that person considers their ideal age and periodically resetting them.
1.5 More Tribbles, More Troubles. They are meant to be solving a famine with seed grain. They break off to intervene in a Klingon police pursuit. The Klingons use a magic new super weapon we never see again. *sideye* because Kirk interfered in something not his business he decides he should sacrifice the automated grain ships that were the POINT of the mission. All this for Cyrano Jones and his tribbles. So they damaged their grain ships and lost a bunch of the grain to the tribbles. jones really had done ecological terrorism and had stolen something important from the Klingon and it really seems to me that if kirk had just followed the mission everything would have been better. Still, now their are "safe" tribbles. Too bad for the people on that planet who aren't going to get enough grain.
