* Props to both Rachel Maddow and Trevor Noah for having Trans People on their shows to talk about Trans People in the Military instead of going the lazy route that is so often the standard (talking about trans folk without inviting us to the table or just calling up white cis man Dan savage who has a problematic history with transfolk even though he has shown improvement). I extra appreciated that trans men were represented (and particularly the trans man of colour on Rachel Maddow) as so often it's only white women's voices who get heard in these situation. (To be clear, I've nothing against white women being included, it's just that when it's only white women talking it is a problem. Ex: Caitlyn Jenner getting privileged over people who actually know what they are talking about and have an intersectional perspective like Janet mock. Representation matters and trans men of colour are right up there with non-binary folk for getting little to no representation in media. It is hugely important that people see different kinds of trans people, particularly to trans youth who so seldom get to see anyone like themselves out there).
