* Do not read "City of Light, City of Poison: Murder, Magic, and the First Police Chief of Paris" by Holly Tucker. It's riddled with easily checked factual errors. (EX: Claims Phillipe never saw the Chevalier again after his banishment to Italy, except Louis recalled him. I have numerous sources on my bookshelves contradicting the author's claim and I'm pretty sure she could have easily discovered this if she did any period research at all.) It leaves out easily discovered pertinent information, such as Henrietta's looong illness and years of medical issues, in favour of making it look like she died suddenly after being perfectly fine. She'd been clearly dying at least a year. Again, this isn't even my period of study and I still know this stuff off the top of my head and can easily source it out of reputable sources I have just lying around.
I would be fascinated to know more about the less famous people in the book, but given how badly botched the bits I can easily verify are, I can't trust a word the author writes.
