* It's nice the FDA is pretending to care about antibiotic resistant bacteria, but voluntary standards are just writing on the wind. If they actually wanted to do something, those standards would be mandatory. They would also need to have the rule apply to prophylactic disease prevention as well as growth promotion.

* I can't stop thinking about the Arizona law. If every unfertilized egg is a person, does that mean every time a woman menstruates she commits murder? Do they plan to have police stake out the Tampax isle in search of murderers? Because that seems like the logical implication of this latest Republican law to punish women for being born without y Chromosomes. That is, if you can apply logic to Republican jurisprudence at all.
* I've been mulling over a lot of the right wing response to Trayon Martin's murder, and it seems to me that underneath, a lot of it is really a tone argument. It's like the real crime here is not the murder of an unarmed teen, but poc daring to say that stalking and killing unarmed teens should be illegal and that when it happens arrests should be made. It's like the anger and not the murder is a crime. It's like all of FOX "news" is saying, "How dare you be angry; only we have a right to be angry about anything ever." If the stalking and murder of an unarmed teenager isn't something to get angry about, I don't know what is.
I'm not stating this very clearly, I know. I'm having hard time putting it into words, but it's bugging me. Tone arguments generally do.
* Another dozen tornadoes tore through the Midwest. One hit a hospital.
* My hyacinth has gone flaccid in the night.
* I had forgotten how much more intricate Pertwee era plotting was than any other Doctor Who era. I wonder if it was done to compensate for next to no budget.
* Someone ought to write a paper comparing Season Four of Being Human with Torchwood: Children of Earth. I'd be tempted myself, but CoE is still too raw. Still they feel like halves of a whole to me, or two variations on a theme while very different tonal resolutions.
