* So not only is Gorsuch out right lying in his commercials that he is backing the poor and minorities against corporations when the exact opposite is true, but he's a literal plagarist on a fairly large scale hich rather undermines his intellectual claims.

For serious, call your Senators and encourage them to block or stand firm if they are already blocking this nomination if you are able to. (I know some people can't for a variety of reasons). Remember, he believes that corporations have first amendment rights that Trump those of mere human employees. He is worse than Scalia and will likely live a very long time. Remember that if Democrats cave now, it will enshrine the idea that it is completely acceptable to refuse to even consider nominee by an opposing party so as to steal a nomination, as the Republicans have done in this case. If they kill the filibuster, they kill it. Better to fight and die on the moral high ground than roll over in expectation that they will keep using the threat every single time. Rolling over now for a vague promise we know Republicans won't keep next time is only making things worse.

* Need I mention that the Susan Rice distraction is nonsense from a conspiracy theorist who made his living slandering Hillary Clinton in the '90's. He's literally known for making things up to attack women. Everybody with a clue how things work is not surprisingly calling the accusations nonsense. I'm unlikely to say more than it's a deliberate distraction to distract from literal treason in the White House. Keep your eyes on the ball folks.

* 45 is backing Bill O'Reilly on his serial sexual depredation on female employees. Is anyone surprised? No word on what Bill Cosby thinks. For the record: I believe the women in both the O'Reilly and Trump cases.

* The cherry blossoms are out. They always remind me of My Soldier. We fell in love in Winter. We were young and he had not enlisted yet. He had long dark hair, and though his mother was white, he looked Native like his father. He wore a long grey coat and a fedora. I know, I know, fedoras are now a universal sign of assholery, but in 1990, the hat was unusual and quirky. With his long coat and his ling hair, the hat gave him a unique, vaguely 19th century look. He hated shoes even mor that I do, and had these huge feet with long toes he used like extra fingers. I picture him in Winter dressed like that, barefoot in the snow for the dash from his house to his mother's car, unwilling to put on shoes for the brief trip, as he always drove barefoot.

The street where he lived in 1991 was lined on both sides with cherry trees. They were intriguing shapes in Winter, lichen covered and Gothic. In spring they would burst forth into pink glory and the petals would rain down slowly, and cling to his feet, half crushed. The symbolism is not lost on me. He died in full flower, beautiful, and far too young.

Cherry blossoms forever remind me of him. Barefoot. Beloved. Missed.
