* 45 fantasized on twitter that President Obama personally had him wiretapped during the election even though the President doesn't have the power to do that. We know 45 always accuses others of doing whatever horrible thing he himself is doing or planning to do, so I am now wondering who he is trying to get wire tapped, presumable through Comey or Sessions. There is also the question of why so paranoid? What illegal, damning thing was he doing just before the election that has him so worried that he's inventing this story about Obama in the middle of the night?
Look, I am 100% against warrantless wiretapping, but I also know I've never done anything illegal on a phone and anyone tapping me would get me repeatedly telling phone beggars I'm on a fixed income don't call again, a bunch of pharmacy voicemails about boring prescription renewals, and a scattering of doctor appointment calls and people telling me they are running late or no coming. If they are tapping me, they are bored the fuck to tears. I don't lie awake at night terrorized over it, nor do I run around accusing innocent people of targeting me personally based on things I dreamed or made up.

* I've said before that my ballet education is spotty. My ballet education growing up was how to dance and whatever happened to be in TV in my region in the 70's and '80's, plus one trip to see Carmina Burana and the Trocks in person. The tragedy of me watching ballet is I can never enjoy watching it the way I did dancing it, but I have been watching it this year. I'd never even heard of Ashton until 6 months ago, though I certainly knew who Pepita, Nijinsky, and Balanchine were. If Ashton was on TV when I was young, I never noticed. My first exposure was a few clips before Christmas. My first full ballet of his was La Fille Mal Gardée a month or two ago. It was fascinating in it's way (Dancing Chickens! Giant dancing cock!), but the costumes and set were rather busy, which I felt detracted from the dancing. The dancing was so hard I got exhausted just watching. Seriously, I could feel the ache of the choreography in my muscles. It's fast and complex and the sort of thing that takes a huge about of endurance. I could tell just watching it, that you needed a really strong grounding in the less glamorous bits of ballet, huge self discipline, and soooo much practice to make it work and look right. I am absolutely not saying the Royal ballet dancers made it look hard, because they didn't, they were trying to make it look light and fun the way one is meant to. I am saying that I may have forgotten a lot of the vocabulary, but my body remembers what dancing felt like watching that choreography I imagined the ache and burn in the legs after practice. I am a philistine, but I know enough to be impressed even when the aesthetics aren't to my taste.
Anyway, I spent the evening watching the Trocks, followed by an Ashton sampler that was recommended to me. The Trocks were the Trocks, fun and impressive the way Trocks are always fun and impressive. The Ashton Celebration... wow. I am watching these pieces with zero context, as I'm not seen the ballets they are from, have no idea what the plot is or why what is happening is happening. The set is a very simple backdrop, the costumes so far are lovely and elegant. (I did not quite finish before coming out to eat.) The much simpler setting and the easier to look at more harmonious costumes made it so much easier to focus properly on the dancing, which is excellent and impressive. The second piece, a pas de deux from Thaïs, was incredibly moving even though I had no information about what story in fit into, but really, the three I've watched so far were a joy to watch even if they did make my legs ache in sympathy.
