gwydion* Donald Trumps decided to put the 5000 American troops fighting ISIS in Iraq and every single other soldier, sailor, pilot, and marine who is stationed in or makes port in a muslin country in extreme danger by announcing over the weekend that our policy is to loot Iraq's oil, and by extension the oil of any other Muslim country we randomly choose to invade on a republican whim.
Meanwhile, Senate Republicans (except for rand Paul) decided in a stunning display of lack of spine that turning over our country's foreign policy to Exxon was an incredibly good idea. Have they not an ounce of patriotism between them?
I strongly suspect that these two items are related, as why would Exxon care how many Americans die as long as they get to loot oil in any country they can get us to invade?
* National security adviser Micheal Flynn is under counter-investigation for colluding with Russia.
* Wave good bye to the EPA. Their activities and funding are frozen, they are under a gag order and not allowed to speak, write, or use social media.
* Donald Trump has put in a much larger and more extremist gloval gag rule that will stop any organization getting even a dollar of government funding mentioning things like HIV prevention, abortion
* We know "Alt-Right" is just a weasel word for Neo-NAZI. "Alternative facts" just means lie. We need to call them what they are and not let them get away with Orwellian Newspeak. Most particularly, the news media needs to consistently brand them as they are.

* Yesterday, I foraged, had my taxes done (free at the library, taking two hours of waiting and 15-20 for the actual taxes, most of it do to trouble with new software), went to the doctor, the pharmacy, the library....
* Oh, I should probably remind people that the AARP free tax filing thing is not just were I live and it is for everyone regardless of age as long as you aren't doing a lot of complicated deductions. (Basically Stressed out about your 1040? They will do it all for you except the signatures. Bring your social security card, ID, various income statement thingies (wages, social security, investment earnings summary), that proof of insurance statement you get sent this time of year from medicare/medicaid/insurance company, any property tax statements, and if you have large medical bills proof of those, proof of new houses, marriage and/or death certificates/appropriate documentation for dependents. You can bring medical bill summary stuff anyway, but unless you paid/owed a lot you'll likely do better with the standard deduction. Odds are if you are poor or middle class you'll do fine, it's just they don't do those monster rich people deductions to give them a 10% tax rate type forms.
Do check to find when and where they are doing it close to you. Do bring something to read. Do try to come as early as you can because the lines get ugly late in the day and the closer to April you get. They are really nice, but odds are this will eat a few hours. It's good, it's free, and spending an afternoon or evening reading isn't a bad exchange for not having to figure out how to deduct a mortgage payment or doing the math on multiple jobs.
They electronic file for you right on the spot. Even if you zero out every year like I do, it’s worth it to file as it means you have your tax form to show various agencies when you need to, and it protects you from identity theft.
