* There was a big bombing of a mosque in Afghanistan, likely meant to kill as many government officials as possible. The officials had left through a different entrance, so the people who suffered the force of the blast were innocent civilians and police doing security.

* The Syrian government almost immediately violated the cease fire, including attacks on opposition positions and firing into a peaceful unarmed crowd, killing several people. Apparently tanks and the shelling of civilians is also part of the government's interpretation of "cease fire." Anyone surprised? I'm not.

* I saw Malala Yousafzai's father's press conference, and I admit, I wept. The whole family is so brave. I wish them all well. It's wonderful to hear that the amazing young lady is walking and talking. She has already asked for her school books and wants to finish the exams the assassination attempt interrupted.

* Several people have pointed me to the thank you letter to Republican politicians from a rapist. I wish it could be read to each and every one of these men who are claiming that rape survivors need to be punished with even more loss of control, but I consider it too triggery for posting here. Thank you to those of you who gave me the heads up.

* I was invited to a party, but it didn't work out (I got some interesting soup and cupcakes to take home, which I just ate for lunch with the rest of the Thai food). I did get the errands I was meant to do before the party done, despite way too many people, many of them assholes being out and about. It's funny, I don't resent people legitimately ahead of me in lines. I'm zen, I bring a book. I'm the sort of driver who let's people in ahead of me when they need to change lanes or pull on to the street from a parking lot at a light. However, when some able bodied asshole cuts in front of me in line because he thinks that nothing I have to do could possibly important? I struggle not to hit him about the head with my crutch. Asshole. I was waiting in the proper place at the front of the Post office line while the postal worker was carrying something to the back. He saw me waiting there, so went around me to get to the counter. I have no zen about line cutting whatsoever and it never used to happen before I got sick. To top it off? Mine was a simple and fast transaction; he had all these questions and dithering while the line got longer and longer. I got thai food on the way home from the party that wasn't because by then I was too worn out to cook. I also had a box of BPAL goodies waiting to play with when I got home, so I had a fine dinner and played with my new toys.

* I am having connectivity issues again. If I suddenly disappear for an evening, it's likely that.

* I had no plans to watch Mockingbird Lane I never much liked the original Munsters, being an Addam's Family sort of person. Munster's style humor just never appealed to me. Eddie Izzard was on Craig Ferguson pimping it last night, and I love me some Eddie Izzard, so I gave it a shot. It was... not to my taste, really. It seemed self conscious a little too movie of the week. Eddie Izzard ate every scene he was in. Of course. He seemed to be having fun swanning about and it was fun watching him swanning about, but he is rather too likeable for his character, which causes some dissonance.

Actually, dissonance is a good description just generally. I mean it's written like a children's show aimed to Elementary School children, yet there is a lot of nudity for a show written for young children. I don't mind nudity, but I think they should have tried writing it for people who have passed puberty. It does that annoying thing that the original show did, where all of the adults function as if they are small children. I didn't like that at seven, and it only annoys me the more as an adult. It's even creepier when you add in the sex scene and all the other nudity and implied nudity. Just saying.

John Scalzi's thank you letter is brilliant, and he does warn that it's very triggery. I'd say it's a 12 megaton dose of trigger.
