* Meningitis Update: The out break I mentioned yesterday is a fungal form, which means it's not very contagious. It looks like a batch of steroids for back pain injections got contaminated in a compounding facility. As this is an arthritis treatment (I've had it in my hips), most of the folks getting it were elderly, so some where simply not strong enough to fight it off. They're recalling the bad batch, and don't expect it to spread.

However, there is a significantly more contagious outbreak of bacterial Meningitis in the New York area. If you live in that area and get a stiff neck and rash with a blinding head ache and extreme light sensitivity, go to the hospital, especially if you are immune-compromised.

* Rachel Maddow is having to individually harass Republican election officials in Pennsylvania to get them to take down voter suppression notices that lie to people saying they can't vote:

* I did most of the other things I should have done yesterday: dropped off stuff at Good Will, found cheap table there I hope is the right size to solve a problem with my bedroom layout, picked up more Halloween lights as out porch is our real display area, got a discount matt for the front of the apartment that I liked but didn't have money for last month (last on the shelf), hit the farmer's market for goodies, picked up meds. All that's left is a library run, the hardware store, and some office supplies. The second two I can do in the nearby shopping center, so the real trick is catching the library open. Squirrel likes the look of the lights so much, he's thinking of getting some from his room.

Yeah, part of why I quit The Walking Dead after the first season was how little they portrayed people of colour, aside from one episode where the inner city gangs stayed behind to look after the seniour citizens.

And then at the end, the sole black woman stays to die with the scientist because she's too weak. Yeesshhh... they had ONE BLACK WOMAN, and got rid of her.

And of course, as Sparky pointed out,no one from the LGBT community survives the first 48 hours of an apocopalyse... ;p

One of the things I like about the comic is that LGB folk survived the zombie apocalypse. I haven't seen any trans folk, but I figure having a kick ass gay male couple among the survivors is by itself exciting. (The bi representation isn't great or as positive, but it's there).
