Aug. 9th, 2012 03:05 am* Mitt Romney is using Gingrich and Donald Trump as surrogates for Racist and Classist attacks on the working class. After all, who knows more about “the dignity of work” than a janitor working two jobs to feed a family or Newt, Trump, and Mitt….: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#48582005
* And here's Newt Gingrich telling lies about the President on Mitt Romney's behalf:
* Debunking the Mitt Romney Welfare Ad which appears to be made entirely of lies:
* In Ohio, the Republicans have decided there will be early voting in Republican dominant counties, but it will be illegal in democratic dominant ones. After all, really only Republicans should have the chance to vote in a fair election and the fairest election of all is a fixed one in their favour. If the Republican ideas and candidates are so much better, why are they so afraid to put them up to a fair vote?

It looks inconclusive to me, but more data will likely clarify things.

* So the car repair is fairly cheap, but they had to overnight the part as they are in high demand so sources were out locally. (It's a part that wears out a lot.) I left the car there and took a taxi home, as driving with the part in it's current condition endangers the alternator. It's expected they can fix it sometime tomorrow. The pain from driving it to the mechanic is stunning. Apparently being late on my meds was the last straw for my body, so I spent the evening mired in nastiness.
* I got a baffling letter from the lawyer that literally requires a law book to decipher as I need to know what the statute they are referencing is. I suspect it's meant to notify me the estate's about to settle, only I don't have a license to practice family law in Pennsylvania, so I don't have the statute references memorized.
* Olympics Day 8 -10 I think: I find those people claiming letting Oscar Pistorius run in the Olympics is unfair to be petty and ignorant. If having no legs was really the huge unfair advantage they are claiming, why aren't all the top parathletes out competing the folks with legs? Why aren't the Olympics swamped with parathletes? Instead you have one exceptional individual breaking the glass ceiling. I suspect there will be more in future, but the time to revisit "unfair advantage" is when the podiums at world class events are all amputees, rather than now when you're talking one person. It just looks like Ableism and sour grapes to me and I don't think we should coddle bigots; it just encourages them.
Women's Gymnastics: That Peña Abreu is amazing. I was so sorry she couldn't land clean because she nearly pulled off something mindblowingly difficult. Remember Oksana Chusovitina, who fled her home in Uzbekistan for the health of her son? The one who just kept competing long after most women quit? She just vaulted in the final at her sixth Olympics at the age of 37! This is a sport where woman are considered over the hill at twenty. The medal awards looked fair to me. I'm sorry McKayla botched her landing, but she did. I'm so happy for Beth Tweddle getting a medal at her third Olympics. It's a big deal for Great Britain, and I have a sift spot for the older gymnasts. I am sorry Gabby had those two errors that knocked her out of the running.
Men's Gymnastics: Ziu Kai's story was really moving. He auctioned his gold medal to help earthquake victims. And suddenly I was rooting for him. It was cool that Matt Whitlock gave the performance of his life on pommel finals. This would be the place to do it. That toothsome Louis Smith sure brought his A game didn't he? So sad the tie breaker went the other way, but how cool to have Great Britain get two apparatus medals for the first time. I was so sad Iordan Iovtchev didn't medal. I was so happy for Brazil getting their first gymnastics medal ever! Enrique Tomas Gonzalez Sepulveda may have a silly mustache, but damn can he vault! The vault competition was pretty intense just generally, and it was nice seeing one of the Ukrainians carrying away a medal. That South Korean was stunning!
Why is watching humans run hurdles boring, but when horses do it, it's beautiful?
