gwydion* They have now evacuated more than 1200 people along with their animals as a result of the fire spreading through the canyons. The record heat is only making it worse as is the low humidity (3!), which sucks the water out of the timber.

* It turns out that as Governor, Mitt Romney fired government workers whose job it was to help people who had just lost their jobs to get services and out sourced them to India. After all, given the choice of shipping taxpayer money overseas or retaining middle class jobs that circulate money in state and therefore help the State economy, the choice is obvious right? i mean the point of government service is to damage the economy any way possible and destroy as many jobs as you can get away with. This is what he wants to do for the country as a whole as far as I can tell from his economic policies. Meanwhile, he actually claimed that the President is putting us on the path to Greece, even though it is Romney arguing the same austerity program that ruined Greece and the President wants to do the opposite. Sigh.
* It's been a particularly clumsy week. Yesterday I kept falling over and managed to cut up the bottom of my foot in the process. Today I jabbed my eye hard with a long finger nail. Ouch. May I repeat, ouch. Hector had a proper nap this afternoon, and is only howling intermittently this evening. Fingers crossed that this represents deescalation.
