* I see the coverage for the 2016 Presidential Election started today. Jesus fucking Christ people, can't we wait until this election is over before covering the next one?

* Remember the guy that mailed body parts of his victim to Canadian political parties, etc.? They arrested him in Germany, where he fled pretty much immediately after posting the grisly packages.

* Re: Latest Amelia Earhart Theory. The jar and other evidence is interesting, but not even close to definitive. I'd need to see something more conclusive before I get excited. http://news.discovery.com/history/amelia-earhart-freckle-creme-jar-120530.html

* Hector decided today being one with short sleep, it would be an ideal opportunity to do that thing where he waits until I start to drift off to sleep to start howling inconsolably for be to come follow him around the living room. Rinse and repeat over and over until he'd whittled my sleep down to two hours, on a day with an early Doctor's appointment and a large, exhausting errand slate. I did manage to make my appointment (Where they gave me another errand to do ASAP that requires doing bureaucracy before things close at 3:00 PM and driving all over town. Sigh.) and I managed to fit everything else in, though I was late getting home with the car for Squirrel because everything took like three times the amount of time it needed to what with the pain and the whole being robbed of sleep thing. (As of yesterday, I'm back on full meds dose as I was having trouble controlling my limbs again, but I'm still below average as far as ouch goes). I thought, "At least I got groceries I couldn't manage without, right?" wrong. While unpacking I realized I forgot the goosh. About five minutes later I realized I forgot the medicinal tea. I am already over budget on food for the month. Then I lost a whole posting here to a glitch. *facepalm* At least I an eat leftovers instead of trying to cook something from scratch. That would be begging for trouble. ...And I just realized I forgot the crackers.

* I passed the big movie theater on my trip to the big grocery store. Both Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman were playing there. It's like a Chris Hemsworth festival.

* Every time I come across advance publicity for Les Miserables I am filled with anxiety. Please don't fuck this one up Hollywood, it matters to me intensely in a whole lot of ways it's complicated to explain. I very much want a musial Les Miserables movie, but is NEEDS to be good.

* I finished reading the Hunger Games. Most of the changes between book and movie right up until the Games proper finished looked to be perfectly reasonable simplification, compression, or moving bits round for necessary make it go in a reasonable amount of time for the movie audience. I did notice the movie lightly expanded the roles of Rue and Thrash, which was all to the good, especially as Rue was my favorite tribute. Cinna was simplified dramatically, and though I loved him best of the non-tribute character in the movie, and really loved all the hints at back story and motive in the book, I get why it was necessary. The book end was waaay more complicated with a lot of set up for what I'm guessing is happening in the next book. I get why they had to cut it, but I don't like they way it dramatically changes the reading of Katniss' character. I think her realizing that she just did a horrible thing to Peeta is important, and it worries me that I walked out of the movie not getting both the sense of what she did to him, how much it hurt him, and that she feels bad about it. To me watching cold before I'd read the book, it read the opposite way, that she'd hurt Gale but not Peeta. That really changes things.

For the record, I'm neither team Gale, nor team Peeta. I'm team Katniss has way too much going on to be putting much time into romance stuff and should chose herself first. Please do not tell me what happens in the later books. I'm in line for the next one, but the line is long.

Avengers is something I really like, I've heard that Snow White looks good, but never jells (?) together.

OTOH, I went into MiB III expecting a lightly amusing "beer and popcorn" movie, and found that it was better than expected. Especially the scenes with Andy Warhol.

Kachiko has discovered that smacking the 2lbs container of cat food onto the floor is one way of waking me up when I'm "sleeping in",i.e. it's 6:50 and the sun has been up and where's my food dammit!?
