* It looks like Ron Paul is really racking up delegates in states that already voted between taking over leadership at the local level and santorum pulling out prematurely.
* This thing on bizarre attacks on President Obama by right wing news sorces suck as claiming that the President is Maoist for using the Wisconsin state moto as a campaign slogan is pretty fascinating: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/
* Mitt Romney wants you to know that even though he roundly condemned the President for killing Osama bin Laden, he would have totally done the same thing he said he would never do. Good to know.
* There's plenty of coverage on multiple examples of hypocrisy on the Republican condemnation of the President's speech. I am personally deeply uncomfortable with the celebration of death even when it's someone who we are all glad is dead, if that makes sense. Similarly, I have serious misgivings about things like assassination, drone strikes, and missions into countries we aren't at war with while at the same time being glad when the results are good and unable to think of anything else we could have done. I'm glad it's not my job to make these decisions. Anyway, my discomfort doesn't change the one year anniversary being a sensible time to lift Taliban and al-Qaeda related gains we've made, nor the political sense of doing it. I do think there is a difference between listing real accomplishments and parading about in a flight suit under a mission accomplished banner while the war started for oil and vengeance rages on. I think pundits and politicians condemning the former and not the latter are rank hypocrites, because the latter is pretty disgusting. Similarly, I think there is a problem with Mitt Romney condemning President Obama for his speech when he didn't condemn President Bush for using the falling towers in campaign ads, then leaving for an event with Rudi "noun, verb, 9/11" Giuliani who he didn't then condemn. Again, I have trouble seeing that what the current President did was worse than these other things Mitt Romney is just fine with. Again, I do think there's plenty of room for debate over this stuff, but the people with the moral authority to do it aren't the ones having it, and the one's who clearly don't are.
* And that was all I was going to say on the topic, when the daily Show hit my time zone and I just had to toss a link in because their version was better than most of the legit news versions and I think captures the frustration with the hypocrisy brilliantly: Pt. 1 http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-may-1-2012/victory-lapse
Pt. 2 http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-may-1-2012/victory-lapse---the-anniversary-of-osama-bin-laden-s-death
* Similarly, I wasn't going to say anything at all about the whole Ryan being taken to task for being a crappy catholic, then lying about all the things he said about ayn rand on the grounds that "Paul Ryan is a huge hypocrite" is a rain is wet sort of story, but Colbert did it so well, so I'm tossing the link:http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/413498/may-01-2012/paul-ryan-s-christian-budget-cuts
* Hector howled almost continuously for the first four hours of my sleep cycle, then intermittently every hour or so so as to prevent me getting real rest. Sigh. I'm running out of emotional cushion and overload resistance. I do not understand why he objects so strongly to me sleeping, but I hate this. I can't ethically lock him in with Squirrel or the tiny bathroom, which are the only places I can lock him where he's not loud enough to wake me. Still, he's escalating before my eyes. He's flying through the air, but hasn't quite started climbing walls. I got him with the antianxiety meds and I'll do the laxatone in a bit once he's calmed down from the first dose. Taken as a whole this year has been the worst we've had since the first few after we rescued him. It's not just he move as he started doing the long bad patches before we knew our number was going to come up. Given my medical state, I'm not sure how much move of this I can handle. Feliway is clearly useless for hector, though it's helping the junior beasties and I'm still experimenting with that to try to curb some of the less appealing behaviors. Meanwhile, the black cats have taken to clearing my phone and everything else off my bedside table so they can cuddle my lamp. I've caught them both and yes, they do it while I'm asleep as well as awake. I'm trying a couple methods of discouraging this. They also just spent the evening taking turns on my lap, which is considerably more adorable.
* I'm done with tiny soap samples and am up to the handmade 2/3 sized sample someone in Euprope sent me. It's got a pleasant sandalwood dominant resin thing going on, though the scent is not strong enough and the texture isn't ideal. I'm hopeing the texture thing may partially solve itself as the rough high relief pattern I'm guessing is meant for exfoliating and the sharp edges on the other side ear down. Of the wee soap samples the only one that I really loved was from an etsy shop. It had a strong pleasant scent, a smooth texture, and was lovely to the eye. I tucked the packaging away so I hope that a couple of years from now when I finish up all the full sized samples that I'll remember where that is. I know, I know, I'm bizarrely picky about soap for a poor person. I will use things like Dove or Ivory without a problem if left to myself. A lot of fancy soaps smell wrong or have exfoliating grit and the like. There is room between soap I'm willing to use and the ideal soap, if that makes sense. There's also room between soaps I don't much like and ones I literally can't use like Irish spring.
* Did anyone else notice in Sunday's Metalocalypse, when the band is complaining about Nathan's new girlfriend, Pickles, Swissgarde, an Murder face all have skull mugs with their hair, but Toki's is another Swissegarde? I love when they do lttle details that speak to previous character and plot developments.
