* Dick Clark has died. Look, I'm from Philadelphia originally. I can't not mention him. He integrated his dance show, back when Jim Crow still was in force all over the South. By the time I was watching now and then, it was no longer all that relevant, but I did date the ex-lover of one of the core dancers. It's a bizarre coincidence that he should die so soon after the Soul Train guy. I have nothing clever to say. I keep thinking about the running jokes about him having a portrait in his attic, or access to the fountain of youth. The joke has run out and even Dick Clark is mortal, no matter how much it seemed like he would live forever.

* I took the black cats for a half hour walk. They are still figuring out what territory is theirs. I'm having to be very strict with the Butt, as he has no common sense. Mache, I let roam a little further, because she has the sense to stay away from cars/driveways and come right back if something unexpected happens. She also reliably comes when called. I let her wander as far as the two trees. There was much sniffing about and sampling of vegetation. I broke out the lawn chair, even. The gladiolas are sprouting. No sign of anything else yet. The hyacinth is done for the year. I really out to get another planter and more potting soil, but that's not happening just now.

* The rose extract I got online is no good at all, but I have a line on a different supplier and will try again. The brand my family traditionally uses doesn't list rose on their website, so I fear it's been discontinued.

* I am starting to wonder if Hector watches me sleep and waits for the dream to get interesting, choosing that moment to stand on my shoulder and howl into my ear at the top of his wee leather lungs. Little bastard cock blocked my dreams again today.

* I'm currently reading the brilliant Deathless, by Catherynne M. Valente,a very adult take on Russian folklore with things like Stalinist house elves. It's doing all these cool things with blending the real brutal history of the USSR in the twentieth entry with the mythic elements and a compelling story of a woman trying to survive caught between them. I've also just started Daughter of Smoke and Bone and am embarking on season 5 of the Wire.

I actually look stunning in a black catsuit/bodysuit but that's me. Not everyone can wear it nor does everyone like it. I wear it with a jeweled gold belt and heels.
