Mar. 7th, 2012 03:33 am* Thanks in part to Santorum and Gingrich screwing the pooh on the Virginia ballot and various other local ballots in places like Ohio, it is no longer numerically possible for either of them to get enough delegates to lock the convention. This doesn't mean Romney necessarily can lock the convention either, if the other three keep fighting him. All it means is Romney's chances for locking the convention are still open. Romney won Massachusetts, Vermont, Virginia, Idaho, Alaska, and Ohio. Santorum took Oklahoma, Tennessee, and North Dakota. Gingrich took Georgia as expected. Total Delegate counts so far: Romney 415, Santorum 176, Gingrich 105, Paul 47. Remember some states are proportional and others are winner take all. Also, due to incompetence there is some question as to whether some delegates in earlier races may be reassigned. It is too early to find out whether any of the super Tuesday elections were botched. Anyway, It takes 1144 delegates to secure the Republican nomination.
(I wrote the first draft of above, then realized I was short a state. Oh right, Alaska! Where the polls close later! Don't worry, I redid the delegate count etc. after Alaska got counted. Sometimes, I am a muppet.)
* rm found, This had me in tears. It's a limited time only change to see 8 on the internet: http://youtu.be/qlUG8F9uVgM
* It turned out Greenwick was next week. Monday night, it snowed, but melted by the time I got up today. I did a bunch of housework and read more Dark Design and Clash of Kings. Are all the Starks mind numbingly stupid and too stubborn to listen to good advice, I wonder? I have hung the living room banner so that I can get more light in the livingroom and office. I may need to close the blinds over the banner, but I can open the slats for light. We'll see. The cats spent the evening drifting over to stare out at the patio, one or two at a time looking confused. I scattered some seed over the lattice in the hopes of heliotrope come full Spring. The seeds are old though. It is the same with the cat grass seeds I put in our bit of dirt. I out to see about a second packet. It may be there isn't enough light for anything to grow there, even if the seeds are still good. I need to sweep the patio still. I also ought to look for bulbs and more potting soil for the planters as well. I also spent an hour hand sewing things needing mending. It would have been ten minutes or so of work if my sewing machine hadn't been stolen. Sigh. My hands gave out before the mending did. I still haven't finished the living room, and there are bits and bobs needing doing in my bedroom. There are still things needing to go to storage, good will, and to be sold, but gradually, this is getting more and more like a I want it.
