* Last night the Butt fetched the fish for Squirrel once before Squirrel went to his cave, and after that we played fetch long enough for me to loose count. I'm so proud of him. It's hard training him to do anything, but he's picking this up really fast. The Senior kitties find the whole thing baffling, though LM is happy to horn in on the play.

I found out that the Butt is the one who's been pulling books off the shelves, Silly Beast. He hides the toys behind the books, then forgets exactly where he put it, so he pulls the books out to search behind them. *facepam*

* My meetup friend came by today and brought me a huge bag of sniffies to sample and review. I'm reading a thing for a friend tonight, but will likely start reviewing the BPALs tomorrow. I'll likely do a huge BPAL review post later in the week. I got to skin test GOP, which was disappointing, and Oak Moon, which was lovely. Hector approves of her, as does the Butt. The girls were more ambivalent, though they did come out to gaup at her.

* There wasn't much in the way of interesting historical/archeological news. Sorry. All I've got is:
1. Ancient Judean Hairstyles: http://www.slate.com/articles/life/explainer/2011/12/was_jesus_christ_s_hairstyle_normal_for_his_time_.html

I'm not sure this even counts as news, as we've known for ages that short hair was common in that period and the prevailing theory has been that the long hair in later art was a matter of using fashionable (for the period) hair, in much the same way Mary always has a fashionable dress in Medieval/Renaissance art. Although the theory in the article that it's synchronization with pagan deities makes sense also.

(As long time readers know, Renaissance is generally also late Medieval unless you are talking england where it spans the Medieval/Early modern line.)

2. A problematic thing on a book about slaves in Babylon: http://www.physorg.com/news/2012-01-slaves-babylonians.html

* I'm way behind on lj, due to all the travel stuff last week. If I'm slow to comment, it's nothing personal.
