* I'm signing off until Friday or Saturday

* My lungs are mostly clear, but I'm sluggish and feverish. Greenwick came by. We had pizza and cake and mostly talked about films. I've been doing the getting house and trip stuff ready in between rests. I don't own anything formal suitable for a funeral, so i already feel like an asshole for having to go to my mother's funeral in fairly casual clothes. It feels disrespectful, but it's not like I have money for buying new clothes. I am already exhausted and I haven't even left yet. I've goot one more dose of magic soup for when i get back.

* Why is it that imaginary sports are so much more interesting to me than most of the real ones? Think about it: jugger, motorcycle jousting, rollerball, quidditch... who wouldn't want to watch those? I strongly suspect jugger influenced quidditch. After all Quick = Seeker, etc. Yes i know there are now real world jugger and quiditch teams, but they were originally imaginary sports.

* Vampires and Impossible, Timeless Beauty standards: http://www.fangsforthefantasy.com/2011/10/vampires-and-impossible-timeless-beauty.html

To add to the point, part of the Victorian argument for Homer not meaning the adjectives in the Iliad and Odyssey is that Penelope is described as big and plump with strong arms. They could not grasp that a woman considered beautiful back then would be big, strong, and plump therefore he was clearly just picking random adjectives to fit the meter since only a thin waiflike woman could be attractive enough to fight for. Assholes.

* Re Walking Dead. I'm still liking it,but I really, really miss kick ass comic book Andrea. I'm also noticing how much more sexist the TV group is just generally compared to the comic book equivalents. It's a small thing comparatively, but I keep picking at it like a scab. Yes, Glenn is still my favorite in the TV show so far, but I am waiting breathlessly for my other two favorite comic characters to show up, though i don't know in which season that's likely to happen.
