gwydion* I would like to thank whoever recommended the excellent Huntress, with it's compelling storyline and strong lesbian protagonists. It's a fine palette cleanser after some of the crap I've been wading through.
* Where am I in B5? I just watched the last episode in the main series. I last watched this with my head in Skye's lap and him stroking my hair as I mourned my dead soldier. It hurt a lot, but less than I expected it to, given the double association. My dreams were full of dead lovers, which is not at all surprising. I'm glad I did it. It needed doing, and the whole series hurt a lot less than I expected it too. It's safe now, I think. I still have the TV movies and Crusade which I haven't seen since it first aired.

* Number of states that have actually passed laws intended to disenfranchise the poor and elderly en masse? 12.

* As it turns out, the reason the Postal service is going bankrupt is not anything to do with their unions or a failure to keep up with the modern world, but Republican legislation requiring them to pay for benefits 75 years in advance. If they were only paying for current and past employees, they'd be fine. Republicans, in reaction to this Republican made financial crisis are pushing legislation to make things worse by privatizing and and abolishing unions rather than passing the regulation requiring them to pay retirement pensions for people who aren't born yet. After all, the goal is to cost tax payers extra money while getting rid of Unions and a constitutionally mandated service. We all know how much Republicans hate the constitution even while paying lip service to it.
2006 was the highest volume year for the postal service in all of it's existence.
It's government that works and actually pays for itself. it's highly unionized, so workers have benefits and are well paid. Of course republicans have been taking radical action to get it shut down.
* As it turns out NM Governor Martinez, who is trying to bar immigrants for having driver's licenses and fighting the Dream Act, is the grand daughter of illegal immigrants. It's like the anti-immigrant equivalent of an anti-gay politician sucking cock.
