gwydion* Where my Mother lives, they have people who were evacuated from Atlantic City camping in college and school gymnasiums. She's not on ground as high as our old house, but significantly higher than surrounding areas and they stocked up food and generator fuel. If they lose power there is some hope of them keeping enough power for her not to suffocate. She may have to camp in the hall by the emergency outlet, but she should be okay. She has made preparations to make that as comfortable as possible if it comes to it.
They expect the worst of the hit for New York to be noonish and there is a tornado watch for the NYC area until 5AM, though they do not really think there will be any. The storm is weakening thanks to it dragging over so much land. There is flooding in maryland, but it could have been so much worse.
