* The UN security council, including china and Russia (o.O), voted to condemn syria in light of the Ramadan Massacre.

* The supposed "Deal" is projected to slow economic growth by 1.5 percent or so. It is expected to get rid of 1.8 million jobs.

* Even though corporations are making record profits, they are planning another huge round of layoffs.

* Meanwhile a few thousand FAA workers, including most safety inspectors, are out of work along with approximately a hundred thousand construction workers because a month long vacation for congress was more important than reauthorizing the FAA. After all, the good of laying people off and losing 1.2 billion dollars to government coffers is way more important than the things we could have done with that money or the jobs of mere human citizens.

* I keep thinking the Republican plan for America sounds a lot like Mitt Romney's business model. He used to take over a company, downsize as many people as possible, farm as much money out as he could grab, then move on to the next company to cannibalize before it collapses. I wonder where Republican politicians plan to go after they are done dismantling America?

What really bugs me is that this whole government situation is going to land a Republican the presidency in the next election... because people are going to blame Obama for this mess, since he's currently in office. Even though it is Republicans who caused it, they aren't the president. Which means these kinds of situations may become more and more de rigueur.

The FAA thing is worse than you note. They actually have told the inspectors they have to do their jobs and go do things but they have to pay for their own travel. And they'll get reimbursed. Really. Trust them.

It's ridiculous.
