* Hair cut vote was tied, so I ended up going with the Harkness on the grounds we are heading into Summer.

* After this posts I will likely be incommunicado until Monday.

* I am here to tell you, "No, it likely wouldn't make a difference:" http://catalogliving.net/post/6386800955/flipping-its-lid

* "10 Photos Of Cats In Tiny Cat Furniture:" http://www.buzzfeed.com/erinlarosa/photos-of-cats-in-tiny-cat-furniture-3h8b

* Yes, I know staffers are fleeing the Gingrich campaign like rats from a sinking ship. My only surprise here is that serious campaign operatives signed up in the first place as I didn't think he was in it to try to win, but to inflate his book sales, speaking fees, etc..

* Ouch: http://www.theeditorialcartoons.com/properties/pett/art_images/cg4af968db5d2570.jpg

* I see the Republicans are now talking about "privatizing" social security. No plan is out yet but in previous years, this means gambling on the stock market instead of a fixed, guaranteed payment. Presumably, this is because they think abolishing medicare just won't kill the elderly fast enough. If they are also made homeless when they lose their medical care, think how much faster they will die! The Republicans pretty much always push for this when in power. I am confused by anyone who isn't a billionaire votes for them, knowing this has been their goal since FDR.

* Periodically, I am called upon by overseas friends to explain American Evangelicals, and my fellow citizens in general. Often, all I can say is, i got nothing...

* I look at all those brave people in Syria, dying for freedom and it's heartbreaking, as I haven't much hope of the good guys winning this one. The government forces are not only shooting children and unarmed folks trying to collect the dead and the wounded, but are rampaging through villages, killing people and burning fields. The wounded are having to flee to Turkey, often with horrible wounds to get medical care as the government routinely "disappears" wounded in Syrian hospitals. There is nothing much to do, but weep.

* The Clutch: Adopt one today!

* In response to Republican plans to outlaw Most birth control including the pill in various South states, I give you: http://youtu.be/u6ODFCMaGT4

It struck me that not having to speak for all members of your class (in this case, Americans,) is on the standard 'privilege' lists...

But I think the answers can be found in this statement: "Reason is the enemy of Faith." and in this one: "I wouldn't vote for someone smarter than me."

See... you can't trust anyone smarter than you are because they might trick you and you wouldn't even know it until it was too late. And if you start thinking, you might question the staus-quo and then society breaks down and you have black people sitting on the bus with good honest white folk and then they elect one of them, a foreigner to boot, for president!

I remember a natural-language AI project that was design to reproduce the conversational patterns of a right-wing bigot. It was remarkably successful, as I remember... tho it was pretty sure the Cubans had something to do with the Berlin Wall...
