* House Republicans want to remind you that the biggest crisis in the US right now is not jobs or the economy, but the fact that women in the United States in the 21st century are still allowed to use birth control. Oh! The horror! Don't be outraged about republican tax policy that over the course of the last more than a decade shifted money from people who work for a living to the richest one percent! No! Be outraged that women still maintain some measure of bodily autonomy!

I know I keep harping on this but it makes me all stabby.

* The FLA starts it's review of Apple plants in China. It's an industry funded inspector, so grain of salt, folks.

* It's now light out a little past 5:30, and it's slightly lighter in my room just generally rather than night time dark 23 hours a day. Must be Spring.

* I am hoping that once the car is here and construction is done, I will have enough spoons left to finish the last bits of unpacking. 1. Sorting and putting way loose bits in my bedroom. 2. Sorting through some more papers and office stuff. 3. Test and remount filters. 4. Reorganize fish supplies as I found a better location for storing them. 5. Hang the rest of the art. 5. Big hanging in living room experiment. It's small stuff, which is why it got put off 'til last, then abandoned when death marches all around town became neccessary.

* I ordered what I was told was the only lavender dominant atmosphere spray in the BPAL catalog. I am worried as it's got rose in it, but people tell me the other florals are fairly subdued. I know this sounds stupid and extravagant, but it discourages fleas and I sleep better with the scent of lavender in my room. If they made Temple of Dreams atmosphere spray, I'd be stocking that in industrial quantities. Similarly, I've ordered tansy to discourage fleas, some seasonings I can't get locally, and a shower curtain. (We've been having to stick to baths. This is no hardship for me, as soaking in hot water helps with AS, but Squirrel likes showers, and sometimes one just wants to bath quickly).

* I am thinking I might spring for a living room DvD player now that I am in funds and once I'm motorized. It's frustrating not having working equipment.

* It's going to be a terrible flea year, I can tell. The actual cold bit of winter was incredibly short, and it's been warm and wet since the snow melted. The last batch of flea meds only gave the cats two weeks of relief and there were three generations of hatchlings in the two to three weeks between. Fear not, I am not putting tansy where the cats can eat it. My plan involves tansy and lavender under the mattress liner and as sachets in my linen cabinet, drawers, etc. For those trying this at home: seriously do not let the cats eat tansy and lavender. Especially tansy.

* When I was catnipping the soft toys yesterday, I also got the cat tree, which has only ever been popular with the white cats and hasn't been used much in the last year. Everybody has had fun with it and the junior beasties group napped on and in it yesterday evening. As I was writing this, LM has been crashed out over there for a couple of hours. I think this is going to help with LM's social isolation since the move, since she's hanging with the clowder more.

* BPAL dropped this year's chocolate box collection today. (It wasn't in with the Lupers, so I thought it wasn't coming). They are even more eclectic than last years collection.

* My Fruity Partials, three bids, less than 3 days left: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300661523834?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

* I know this is on the country/folk nexus and terribly Geeky, but it meant a lot to me as a little kid, and is shockingly prescient as to how my life would go. I weep singing it now: http://youtu.be/G3lwuMZv9tM

* I have nothing against Mr. Sondheim, but anytime anyone mentions Sweeney Todd, this is what plays in my head. My Dad and I used to sing this together on our way to school (I can still see him in my mind's eye enthusiastically belting it out), and my mom and thus the rest of us called her meat pies "Sweeney Todd pies" as a joke. My turn for dark humor is ancestral: http://youtu.be/5IL6xQUCYHs

* I want to thank y'all for bearing with my musical trip down my early childhood memory lane. I think the sampling in the last two days might give you an idea as to how my adult musical taste ended up so complicated and wide. It's not even all that representative. It misses the hard rock, Tom Leherer, and the show tunes, for example. One last item, and hopefully, I'll stop. With our crappy mix tape (A different tape than the other items) on our crappy car stereo, many of the lyrics were speculative to me and to this day, I'm like, "Oh! Thumbed!." I remember Mom explaining that Bobby was Roberta and a number of other things when I was small. This was one of my favorites when I was small, and I still love it: http://youtu.be/OTHRg_iSWzM
