* John Ensign's finally resigning under the weight of all those ethics investigations. This is unlikely to change the balance of parties in the senate, as the Nevada Governor is also Republican, in the immediate term. This will hurt democratic chances to take the seat next time around, and makes it more likely that Sharon "Latinos look Asian" Engle will end up in the House. *sigh*

* They examine my hand incision tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

* Am I the only one who thinks of lemurs when I see pictures of the Olsen twins?

* 61% of those in the top tax bracket think they should pay more taxes. O.o Of course a vast majority of the rest of us think that too. Despite these poll results, Republicans are still demanding we further cut the tax rate of the trillionaires at the expense of the elderly.

* They have added federal hate Crimes charges to the list for the White Supremacist who made a very serious attempt at blowing up the Spokane MLK Day Parade.

* I know paying for votes with money, goods, or services is illegal. I am surprised to find out the same is not the case with those political petitions, but in Wisconsin, Republicans have been taped giving people shots in exchange for signing recall petitions. They are also lying about what there petitions are for.

I urge everyone to do what I do when signing petitions, which is thoroughly read all the wording on the petition, in case of misleading language in the written or verbal descriptions of what one is signing.

* Is it just me, or was tonight's Bones a really elaborate mock of Psychand/or Burn Notice?

* Round up of tributes to Lis Sladen: http://box-in-the-box.livejournal.com/503329.html

I couldn't bear to check out the children's tribute.

I do think the posting about how she redefined the companion role in doctor Who, was pretty telling in a variety of ways. The most iconic image I have of the Sarah Jane character in my mind is from the '70's when the 4th doctor was being particularly inhuman and ignoring the need for compassion in his zeal for solving a problem, and she called him up short, reminding him that lives matter, that people matter, calling him on his bullshit. You can see that echo all the way forward through to the modern series, the spirit of Sarah Jane informing the character design of companion after companion.

I agree with box, that it would likely be helpful to young fans if the franchise do something in response. also, damn you box for making me weep for Mr. Hooper again.

* Wow, O'Reilly, Anne Coulter, and even Sen. Michele "first graders should just get jobs if they are hungry to learn self reliance" and Bachman have all come out saying that Obama was born in Hawaii. Mr. Trump, if you are making those folks look reasonable by comparison to you, that's a real problem.

* This pretty much captures why I miss Russel T. Davies: http://neo-prodigy.livejournal.com/933646.html

The rich folk want to pay taxes? I wonder, then, if it is just big businesses that the Republicans want to benefit, and they assume that all rich people are involved in business.

Well, the Koch brothers are huge Republican donors and a lot of the money behind the tea party, and would like to entirely dismantle the EPA, the social safety net, and the tax collection system. They likely out weigh most other voices, to be honest, between personal and corporate money they control.

We will have to disagree on RTD. Thought his treatment of women and POCs was rampantly disgusting and he was a hack storyteller. But then I typically disagree with you and neo-prodigy on most aesthetic and political discourses.

I never liked the doctor being sexually interested in companions, and I absolutely agree he had his fails, but he was a lot more inclusive, and the plotting had better continuity than under Moffat. I had real problems with the giant plot holes and the season finale in general. I do like them returning the doctor to a less sexual and more alien doctor, and i'm fine with the acting in the Moffat run. I just really am having trouble with the lack of inclusiveness and the wildly uneven writing and the tossing out of things like not crossing the time lines and touching previous selvees, which contradicts so much previous plotting and world building. Also, I admit, I'm still pretty pissed about Moffat opting to completely rewrite Van Gogh's sexuality to make him a highly sexed heterosexual.

That's funny because I thought it was because you got banned from my blog.

You have a tendency to ban people who call you on your dissonance and your bullshit.

And no I have a tendency to ban assholes who wanna play housequeer or think they can roll on my blog and talk crazy to me any kind of way and not get put in their motherfucking place.

And if you really didn't want to engage with me, you wouldn't have mentioned my name on a mutual friend's blog who is linking to my post.

So don't get bold now. What you can do however is sit your ass down over there.

Your tendency to put down and refuse to take seriously any other point than your own is my only concern.

We clearly have different understandings of my 'place' in the world. Fortunately, I can avoid your vitriol and limited perspective most of the time without the desire to barf all over my keyboard at your hackneyed one-dimension arguments.

I totally should not have mentioned your name: that was an act of troll-baiting on my part.

"Your tendency to put down and refuse to take seriously any other point than your own is my only concern."

Oh yes, I have such a one-dimensional perspective because I've never dealt with arguing with trolls on the interwebz. You're just so magical and speshul.

Yeah this is the entitled whining I hear from white folks when I don't kiss their ass left and right. Because if you took your head out your ass for two seconds, then you know many of my readers disagree with me on shit all the time for fair and valid reasons. The difference is they come correct if they have a difference of opinion.

"Fortunately, I can avoid your vitriol and limited perspective most of the time without the desire to barf all over my keyboard at your hackneyed one-dimension arguments."

Awwwww you mad? Why you mad? Why are you really mad? Is it because I banned you from my blog or are you still bitter because I didn't engage you in those sexual roleplaying fantasies like you wanted me to.

Maybe that's why you're really resentful.

"I totally should not have mentioned your name"

You're right about that. Because it screams of passive-aggressiveness, picking a fight, and all out cowardice.

I don't see the point of continuing.

You'll either a) declare yourself the winner regardless of what I say, or b) declare yourself the winner if I refuse to engage.

On that I agree. So let's squash it, go our separate ways and move on.

And I don't like having brickwall conversations with people I acknowledge to be smart. I don't like dealing with my own difference and inability to community. Maybe that's why I bothered to keep commenting. I don't know if it's my disability or my sheer stubbornness, but I don't like being able not to talk to people and communicate my perspective. *shrugs*

And hey, you have great taste in men, but you and I are so distant ethically and behaviourally that we might as well be speaking different languages.

And I'm not that desperate for a grudgefuck. Cheers.
