1. It's offensive to show the male photo in the coverage, once again, the press heaps insult on injury.

2. In the US, best practice is now for women to start HRT before trying to live full time for obvious safety reasons. Violence and harassment are much more if a woman is dressing but not on hormones because they are easier to clock so they get singled out. Do not start me on my gate keeper rant or we will be here all day. Anyway, I think it is terrible that folks in the UK are still being made to do the year long RLT before HRT. It's dangerous, cruel, and unnecessary.

It's the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail is our horribly right-wing, alarmist newspaper. That they actually used the proper female pronouns in the article is a huge step up for them. They are usually filled with such bile it's best to take them with a pinch of salt.

The last time I read the paper (my mother buys it for the puzzle pages) they had this article about how terrible it was that in the NHS people could be admitted to whatever gender of ward they chose OMG NO ONE'S GOING TO BE SAFE MEN IN WOMEN'S WARDS WHAT AN INVASION OF PRIVACY! Or something like that.

I think Daily Mail might have once got their facts wrong about the HRT requirements. I did a bit of digging around for a link and the best I've found is http://www.transgenderzone.com/library/fg/fulltext/58.htm
