Dec. 17th, 2011 12:57 am* That poor man who was beaten to death at Florida A&M has been officially declared a murder victim. The autopsy results are horrifying. He lost seven to eight pints of blood before he died. They might as well have cut his throat. It would have been faster and less cruel.
* Notable atheist Christopher Hutchins has died of cancer without recanting. He was not my favorite person. (I am broadly in favour of atheism and secular society, as it's good for non-christians of all stripes, but he could be a bit of a dick about it). Still, I am glad he died as he lived. It's what I would want for myself.
* They managed to pass a short term bill to keep the government open and do a pay roll tax cut and unemployment benefit extension for two months. Republicans added a bunch of pork including a provision forcing the President to decide on that incredibly dangerous pipeline from Canada that is expected to endanger any and all water sources anywhere near the Mississippi.
* Not only has Carl Rove been buying a lot of anti-financial protest ad time, but today I spotted some EPA is evil commercials. I wonder if Mr. Rove or the Kochs are paying for those.
* Apparently, we can't sort out the thing at the bank without my Mother's death certificate, as the options are different depending on if she survived her half birthday.
