Dec. 14th, 2011 12:51 am* Republican Eric Cantor has ordered Chairman Bachus to stop movement on the bill banning Congressional Insider Trading supposedly on the grounds that six years is "not enough vetting" for a bill. Right. I get that Republicans are broadly pro-insider trading and it seems dishonest not to own that. Six years is a lot longer than most bills get. It sure didn't take six years to pass the Patriot Act repealing a large number of basic civil rights for average citizens. I call bullshit. I know Mr. Bachus has made large amounts of money from classified information in the past, but so has nearly everyone in congress. If so many others are willing to give up their unfair advantages on the stock market, why aren't Mr. Bachus and Mr. Cantor?
In my head, a loop of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington plays, a relic of a time when business as usual was still able to shock ordinary movie goers.
* Thank you, Mr. President for ordering the Attorney General to investigate the large scale disenfranchisement of eligible voters by Republicans who strongly believe POC, the poor, the young, and the Elderly oughtn't have the vote.
* After I got up to answer a the phone, I discovered one or more of the cats had been pulling things off the shelves that I put there last night. *facepalm*
* It's looking like Squirrel's going to have to get a Pay Day loan to fix the car as we can't manage without any car at all.
