* Yes, I heard about them getting Gaddafi. The last city in Libya has fallen to the rebels. We spent a billion dollars to help. Meanwhile, Iraq's cost more than a trillion. We are popular in Libya. The Iraqis hate us. In Libya, we asked the locals what they wanted and based our response on that. In Iraq, we invaded so Halliburton could make a huge amount of money and took no account of the needs or wants of the locals. The republicans are now calling for an invasion of Mexico similar to our invasion of Iran.

* Under Herman Cain's 999 plan, 84% of Americans will pay higher taxes than they do now, but it's a huge tax cut for the rich, so it's all good from a Republican perspective, since shifting the tax burden even further on to the poor and middle class is an article of faith with them. He continues to claim Wall Street has no part in the financial crisis despite observable reality and insists if you are not richj and are unemployed it is entirely your fault. Asshole.

* I can't remember if I mentioned that Mitt Romney has come out against legalized contraception.

* I think it says something basic about the republican vision that the following is true: 1. We know the financial crisis was caused by deregulation, so they are in favour of not only repealing Dodd/Frank, but the regulations put in after Enon collapse. 2. We know a big factor in the continuing economic crisis is a lack of demand, so the Republicans propose pulling more money out of circulation in the economy by shifting it into the saving accounts of the wealthy. 3. We know that a major contributor to the lack of demand is joblessness, so they favor firing more people, with will further decrease demand. I must ask: stupid or malicious? It pretty much has to be one or the other.

* To the list of pro-cancer republican policy positions, i forgot to add the abolishing of the EPA so as to dramatically increase the incidence of industrial cancers as well as illness or death from other pollutants.

* Anthony Bologna only lost ten vacation days for randomly pepper spraying innocent, unarmed, and compliant protesters. it's a slap in the wrist, really. he says if he had to do it over again, he would. no remorse, nothing learned. no recourse for the folks he will brutalize in the future.

* Apparently no word came about housing while I was gone. I will likely talk more about the trip at some point, but I'm still trying to get the exhaustion and physical pain down to a manageable level, so I'm simply not up to tackling something so big and complex.
