Oct. 10th, 2011 11:54 pm* in Egypt, military vehicles are rolling over pro-Democracy protesters.

* In Topeka Kansas they are considering repealing the domestic battery law, since saving people from violent partners is too expensive thanks to Republican budget cuts After all, domestic violence only effects humans and not corporations. in the last week, they arrested 18 batterers, but released them without charge, since prosecuting them would take time and money. Too bad for all the humans (mostly women) who will be injured or killed as a result, corporate profits and tax cuts for the rich are waaaaay more important than the lives and safety of mere ordinary people.
* Republicans are vowing to block funding to the Pentagon unless they ban GLB people in the military. (Trans folk are already banned).
* Mitt Romney is now in favour of defining life as starting at abortion, thus banning the pill as well as abortion and likely leading to the arrest of anyone who miscarries. After all, it's nearly impossible to prove a miscarriage is unintentional. Remember that we are nowe considering making domestic violence legal top save money, but we have all this money to track every single pregnancy in the country and arrest and prosecute all those women.
* Newt Gongrich wants you to know that protesting Wall street is Unamerican. Of course, the only way that makes sense is if he believes the founding fathers felt corporate interests should trump the first amendment rights of the individual. O.o As someone who used to teach this stuff for a living, I beg to differ rather strenuously.
* Herman cain is joining Mitt Romney in claiming claiming that it's class warfare, and that not having his extremely regressive tax plan that shifts the tax burden so that the less you make the more of your income you pay is slavery. Sigh.
* This is why I have a real problem with those white guys suing over affirmative action. You don't see them suing over legacy kids. it's not a level playing field folks: http://uryel.tumblr.com/post/11171040922/as-many-as-15-percent-of-freshmen-at-americas-top

* National Coming Out Day is the 11th in the Us and the 12th in UK.
I'm queer in at least three senses of the word. Details in the FAQs on my profile page.
U know some people are uncomfortable with that word. (Remember to reclaim you must be 1. part of the group referenced. 2. using it in a positive sense). I am proud of who i am, but sometimes I get tired of giving the 101 speech. If you have questions, I'm a good person to ask, since I'm hard to offend unless the person is being deliberately obnoxious.
