* Well that was dramatic. Some of you may have noticed the syntax oddities with last night's lj entry. This is because Windows on the lap top force restarted me against my will. Reboot took so long I gave up and went to bed. Today my body was being difficult, so i took getting up slow.

I came out to discover multiple emergencies, the chief of them being that the 30 gallon tank had sprung a leak. The 30 gallon had plecos and the new platys splinter colony which was mostly fry. Trying to patch it was no good as the water pressure was too high for the sealant. So I had to find (and patch) the back up 20, move twenty gallons of dirt, water, and plants over there, then try to patch the 30. I left the fish, as I was hoping I could save them that level of trauma. I finally got to eat while the sealant was drying, then tried refilling. It seemed to be holding. It sprang a leak at the point where I was ready to turn the filter back on. Sigh. So back the water went into the back up twenty. I caught the pleco and moved the pour thing into the inhabited tall twenty with the guppies, but I am worried about the thing. I honestly suspect we've lost the splinter colony, but I simply am not up to pulling everything out to get to the back up... it might be a ten or a fifteen, I forget which, prepping it, finding a place for it, and trying to catch and transfer the fish over there. What I really need, of cource is a new 30 and money for replacement bulbs so I'm not constantly having to move the lighting around between tanks to keep the plants alive. while I'm at it, I might as well wish for money for new filters instead of having to rinse them out and reuse them, and money to restock, and, and... yeah. Like any of that is going to happen. I haven't money for a new tube of tank sealant so I can keep patching the old tanks (I used nearly everything tonight), and I'm running out of goosh again. I literally was still working at cleaning up tank disaster aftermath at 2AM. So tomorrow I'll try refilling the 30 and seeing if another layer of sealant solved it and discover if I still have live fish in there.

We have no money for property taxes. Squirrel's car needs breaks, mine needs tires. We're still having to pay back the landlord for them failing to auto withdraw last year. I'm falling unfixably behind on bills trying to feed this elderly cat and keep us in things like laundry detergent and lung medicine. Something is wrong with the fridge and it’s past warranty. Squirrel's still trying to pay last year's medical bills which means he can't pay for them to fix his heart. At this point I'd need something like 1200.00 for taxes and bills just to keep going. I used too much gas getting my computer running again and gas is money. I have prescriptions waiting for pick up I couldn't afford the copay on. It's exhausting.

So fish purchases to keep the colonies safe is right out. I was so excited about all those healthy fry getting born. I am suspecting the mothers won't even survive and they are heartier.

* Why I haven't given up on Thomas Hamilton being alive:

Given that the same unreliable source for the cover story reported the suicide, I refuse to rule out more cover up. It is possibly true; it is possibly not. Did Thomas Hamilton’s friends know Flint was McGraw until this moment? Both McGraw and Miranda Hamilton were living under assumed names. England tended to ship convicts and people who had generally fucked up to the New World, much as they did to Australia. People also went to places like Virginia if they were gentlemen fleeing debts or other people in need of a new start. Might Thomas have done the same? Obviously Nassau is the most likely choice if he were alive because of his plans for it, but what if he were not well or not willing to pirate for a living. 18th Century man houses were nightmares and a man could have his health seriously undermined in one.

Or consider this: Do we know Thomas was really sent to an asylum? We only have the word of men who had every reason to lie to keep the two men apart. What if they lied to Thomas about the fate of his wife and his lover and Ashe bundled him off to Virginia for a fresh start away from what they considered bad influences? What if Thomas’ father was going to Virginia under an assumed name to see his son when Flint killed him?

It is quite plausible that Thomas thinks that James and Miranda are dead, so didn’t look for them. Or that they fled somewhere else, to the continent, perhaps.

All I’m saying is, we are looking at a whole lot of unreliable sources for information and that leaves us a lot of wiggle room for speculation.
