I was just telling someone the other day about when Seanan and I and some other of her friends disturbed the Chainsaw Clowns. Ryan and I were up in Santa Cruz for his birthday and trying to find some time to hang out with Seanan and the only time available ended up being going to one of those '6 hanuted house/spooky maze' things with her and a bunch of her other friends. And there was a chain-link maze with people dressed as clowns with chainsaws who were supposed to chase you. Also that one really was sort of a maze, so you get 'lost' and double back and run into dead ends and things. Except it was towards the end of the night when we went in and I think the clowns were tired or something, so we ended up hunting them down and demanding more chainsaw. This was apparently not the way this was supposed to go.

Ryan and I also used to have fun going to the Halloween stuff at Magic Mountain. And while I will startle, neither of us really ended up scared by the creepy, so I was a lot more likely to respond to creepy make-up, by staring while I tried to figure out what techniques had been used. Some of the performers were amused by that, but some were either really disconcerted or even somewhat grumpy about it. Though we did have one guy who figured out that if he sat with Ryan and I at a table and sort of chatted, then turned around and jumped at people going by that actually startled/scared them far more than him coming out of the dark, because they were /expecting/ things from the dark. They weren't expecting what seemed to be another patron suddenly turning to a monster.
