* Monday way did not work out. I checked google maps to see where I was supposed to go, which turned out to be waaay not where I thought. (Spoiler: Google maps lied). I was late leaving because I had to wait for a pharmacy delivery, but I thought, I have 45 minutes. It should have been fine. (It was not fine).

So the issue here is, I am only allowed to use the hospital lab for this even though there it is dramatically easier to go to the downtown lab from the same company that has close disabled parking. The hospital believes in making disabled people park really far away. (Abled parking is worse, but this is a lot of gimping about for me). It was rainy/chilly all week end but hot Monday. Of course it was. The whole thing was made complicated by fencing to prevent people taking the easy way on their extended gimps. It meant that things did not look like the google maps picture. I ended up taking the wrong parking in front of what I'd hoped was it but wasn't and then having to gimp painfully through the fencing maze with may mask soaked with sweat.

When I did get to the entrance google maps insisted was correct, it turned out that it had directed me to the exact opposite side of the hospital from the one i needed to use. Cue long, slow gimp back to the car. Cue me now in rush hour traffic driving around to the other side of the hospital where the parking is even further away, since they assume someone is driving disabled people and iss just dropping them off, so disabled people don't need parking anywhere near the entrance. Cue long slow gimp in the heat to find I am now to late.

Which I wouldn't have been if google maps hadn't insisted I needed to be over by the ER.

They were sure I wasn't supposed to be there anyway because my procedure was to far out. The thing was the Doctor was adamant and wanted me to go last Thursday, which I was in no shape to do because spasms. I'd talked her into Monday. Me: They want the tests now to see if I am actively dying. They were wildly skeptical. Me: It's usually 2-3 months to get to a procedure. It'll be more like 7-8 by July. They need to know if I count as an emergency. They gave in. i mean they were dressed in full PPE. They knew damned well how backed up they were on non-emergency procedures.

So I gimped back to the car, and went to get replacement cheese and pick up my library books, which turned into a whole horrible 45 minute+ odyssey of it's own because surprise street construction closure + rush hour.

I burned a ton of gas and spoons and now I have to go back and do it all again, complete with long, slow, painful gimping and arguing my way in to get the damned test.

Sigh.

Update: The blood thing turned out to be a whole second odyssey this morning. I discovered after I'd trudged to the east entrance and waited in line that that in the hospital meant not even the hospital building where google maps said it was, but an out building tucked inside the building's footprint, that has been relevant to me exactly once in the previous 23 years. The nice lady lead me through the hospital as a short cut, but it was still a super long gimp, a longer wait, three vials of blood, and a super long trudge back to the car as it was basically a giant triangle. They had close parking if anyone involved had told me in advance it was the weird shaped outbuilding tucked in the crotch of the wings.

They have moved my procedure up to May without telling me. I found out about it from reception. I have been bled at least, and that's one less thing to find time and spoons for during business hours.
