* The fully loaded big cooler weighs about the same as a dead body. You may remember my shoulder joints are deteriorating and the right one dangerously so, hence the physio to try to same the extremely borked tendon. I had to move that twice all the way from the kitchen to the furthest bit of patio and back. The wheels are only on one side, so the maneuvering in the tight patio space without knocking over plants is it's own drama. All with one really fucked up arm and one somewhat damaged one.
I want to make clear the physio IS working, with the understanding that the AS damage to a a joint is permanent. The goal here is to get back/preserve range of motion, long term mitigate some of the pain, and to try to cut down on that thing where the arm simply stops working. Physio really fucking hurts, but it's doing it's job. A weak ago, I couldn't have moved the cooler at all.
Why outside? Because last time we weren't allowed to use the fridge for about three days and it's cooler outside. This is crucial as really I'd need a second giant cooler to store the whole fridge of things. Outside is cooler than inside, though it's not as ideally chilly as when the fridge broke last time in real Winter. My hope was we'd only need to store the food a few hours, but I didn't know that for sure and life was already pretty dicey for my cheese without me storing it in a warm bathroom. Because this apartment is TINY these were the choices.
I already had a brutal headache and was in pretty gruesome pain and exhausted before moving the cooler around and all the loading/unloading. My arm waited until cooler dumping time to give out. (I'd cleverly stored Baby Cooler inside giant cooler, which was really clever of me. I remembered doing it the moment I saw it there. After I'd searched every other viable location and given up). I managed to dump Baby cooler, but couldn't physically lift giant cooler because the arm, while not limp all the time went limp every time I tried. Luckily Squirrel trundled out not long after and I got him to do it.
I threw out a lot more food than I would have if I'd known it was going to only be a few hours, but the sacrifices were reasonable. I threw out more food that hadn't survived the ordeal of suboptimal refrigeration for over a week plus the patio exodus in a reusable grocery bag (where the things that didn't make cooler cut off went). I will likely discover more casualties over the next week, and money's tight again instead of me going into November a wee bit ahead. Sigh.
I got a bunch of phone bureaucracy call backs while I was waiting for Fridge Guy. Alas, not the two that are going to take ages. They did not call back this afternoon, for which I am grateful, as I actually got a magical nine hours of uninterrupted sleep with not even an autodialer.
The pain is absolutely stunning though, even by my standards. I made a sound so horrible when I tried to get out of bed that the cats stopped what they were doing and came running with concerned looks and in the Emperor's case an interrogative sound that expressed real worry and alarm. so there was nothing for it but to take the strong pain meds and make an emergency frozen pizza for dinner because cooking is right out.
I've got the coolers drying/airing in the kitchen which is just as well as I couldn't take them up to storage with my arms like this.
During my lying in bed trying not to scream phase of the evening, a drunken Squirrel would periodically burst in and announce election news.
I deliberately didn't bother with real time watch since I didn't expect useful results for obvious fucking reasons. I wouldn't have bothered even if I wasn't laid up with Refrigerator Emergency Arms. I did poke at a few things non-Presidential race related and I got Squirrel's oral reports, but I stand by my decision not to follow live. My time was better spent reading Laughter at the Academy, watching Pale Horse and DS9,puttering around the internet, etc..
