We are currently at the worst point of the epidemic. He’s still refusing to release several big chunks of COVID funds voted by Congress to address the pandemic in this country and keeps obstructing and/or rolling back measures designed to slow the epidemic even as hospitals all over the country are being overwhelmed. Instead he’s lying and instructing governors to lie that everything is fine and it’s over, bragging about slowing testing on purpose, and holding no mask hate rallies in enclosed spaces.

* The Library reopened for curbside on a skeleton crew the Monday before last. I have a ridiculous number of holds. There was nothing I could do about it until the car was fixed. I dropped my accumulated returns off when we picked up the car Wednesday a week ago, but I was sick and trying to do curbside in that condition was dangerous and irresponsible. (Driving + dizzy=bad idea, and odds were high I was contagious anyway.)

By Monday, I thought I was in Aftermath from the flu. It's hard to tell given my AS meds and the strong af anti-nausea meds I'm always on. I still needed a lot of extra sleep, but my lungs were about as good as they get this time of year, and i was up, having gone to bed very early.

I don't own a cell phone. No really. Tiny buttons and arthritis fingers don't mix and it's lot of money for something I'd almost never use. A landline is four dollars a month. I can generally find a big buttoned replacement phone at Value Village when one dies about every five or six years.

The website and the person on the phone both aid it'd be fine. They come out periodically to check anyway. I told them I'd be there in about 15. They said that's perfect, it's about how long check out would take. I was skeptical; I was correct. It's a very good thing I had a book s they do not come out periodically to check. you have to wait for someone else with a phone to come to do curbside pick up. Various people turned up to drop off books, everyone carefully parking in every other spot for safety. I waited, and waited and waited.

Luckily someone turned up before they closed and I got my grocery bags of books. Apparently they are doing three day materials quarantine t either end, which according to current information is more than amply. Workers are gloved and masked. The nice man carried my stuff to my trunk, but waited for me to gimp far enough away for safety and the wind was brisk off the Bay. It's about as safe s they can reasonably make it.

ILL is still not taking orders, which isn't surprising, but my ILL returns checked back in after they left quarantine, so that's something. My library cancelled all fines at the new year which likely dramatically simplified the fuck out of post materials quarantine check in. I used to work there and I should know. It also means they don't have to fuss with nickel and dime fines in the middle of a pandemic.

Tuesday I had to get up early for an online thing. My body was logy, not responding well, which happens with AS. My lungs were worse, but they'd mowed the lawn that morning and it was muggy af with nothing much coming in off the Bay, so that's situation normal for lawn care day this time of year.

Wednesday? OMG. The pain is stunning and my lungs are what I consider bad. No fever, eyes fine, sense of taste intact. I am pretty sure it's the tail end of the partially covered influenza, plus high allergen count, plus I kept shifting out of safe position in my sleep.

I think. Chronic Illness: an endless game of medical detective, like House without the snark and the sexual tension.

I am pasted together with A LOT of Meds and moving carefully at a snails pace. I was supposed to change at lest one big tank today as they both desperately need it. I was supposed to full change living room litter. I did not happen.

If it's still bad tomorrow, I'll call it in. Squirrel's been alerted. He may be coming down with my pretty clearly slightly mutant influenza, so fun for him. Luckily, he is serous bout masks outside the house and his work both aggressive screens for COVID and gives free quarantine sick days. We'll see, but seriously don't panic. My money's on this one being my chronic stuff ganging up when my system's been stressed.
