* Saturday: Incremental improvement is still definitely improvement. Today it was the difference between me repeatedly waking up suffocating to me going back to bed in the afternoon and not suffocating in my sleep. It's the difference between a painful rattling cough that continues until i vomit or pass out (Saturday morning) to just a painful rattling cough. Baby steps.
I took a bath last night. Turned hot on all the way to full like I always do, and it actually gt uncomfortably hot! I can now have a really hot bath without using all the hot water in the house.
I keep finding Livia standing where the broken electric fireplace used to be, staring in bafflement at the dry wall. She then gives me this look like, "I'm not crazy, right? There used to be a wall here, and a fish tank?"
* Sunday: Spent all evening resting, but am still exhausted.
It's been over a week since I found a body and I've verified at least 20 fish survived.
* I have a habit of ordering batches of DvDs from the library for what I call my "slow film festivals. I'll order all he films they have that I haven't seen with a particular actor, or all the restoration dramas, or whatever. They don't come all at once, of course, hence the slow motion. I'm also bad at remembering names and titles, so sometimes I'll think i haven't watched things that i have, or I'll order things and by the time they come, I don't recognize the title. This is not any sort of deterioration. I've always been bad at remembering names and titles of things I don't use often. I used to have to quiz myself hard on student names and then forget them over the summer and have to relearn them even when some were the same kids. I realized at my first college that I'd already lost the name of at least one guy i'd fucked in high school. Oh, I remember faces and stories and who people were, it's just often names slip away if I don't work to keep them pinned.
So at some point recently, I went through the library online catalog and ordered a mix of some zombie movies I liked and haven't seen in a while and everything I couldn't remember seeing based on the title. (So far only two turned out not to be rewatches, which for me and zombie movies is a lot. I pretty much watch all the zombie movies reasonably available in the Us and Canada at leas once, even if it takes a few years for TV or library to carry them).
I also keep an eye out for lists of queer cinema things so I can see ones I missed. I ordered a whole bunch of those from several lists over the course of the last few months.
Plus I comb the awards nominations lists and lists of snubs, as I really can't afford to go to movies anymore, and in the gp between release and Dvd, I lose titles. Things fall through the cracks. Back when I had more money I'd see a lot of movies at the Art cinemas in town, so I kept up on indie releases and quality foreign films, but again, broke, so it is helpful to see what world cinema, indie, documentaries etc. are turning up on various lists.
Remember: Super bad at remembering film titles. So a massive number came in all at once right when I was about to spend a ton of time in bed feeling crappy. Sometimes a title is memorable. Sometimes a title of or the cover is obviously zombie or obviously queer. Sometimes? I pop a thing in without paying enough attention or the title and cover are ambiguous and I start watching a film wondering if it's zombies, queer people, or award bait, which adds a whole other level of tension to the early part of the film.
I watched one today where they are out in the wilderness doing stuff and it was really tense because I didn't know if zombies were going to pop up and start eating people or if those guys were going to kiss or neither. (Spoiler: No zombies and they skipped kissing and went right to the fucking. I had to check after what year it came out because it looked like award bait too. It wasn't from this year, but from the cover it looked like it got some awards.)
