I think seeing it externalized like that, portrayed as creepy as it felt, helped me in my resistance. I have no idea how I'd rect to them now. They don't air those old episodes any more, so I likely last saw them at some point in my teens. I do know that it stayed with me, those images you'd never see on a modern TV.
