* In cat news, everyone is finally starting to settle down after all the disruptions. The pettin throne is not as sturdy as it was, but the wood glue is holding. A of Sunday, LM got to spend her evening on her proper elder kitty napping spot and the imperial couple can now watch humming birds from on top of the light box as is their wont.
The toilet tank may have a very slow leak, but it's slow enough to not be a real issue. For the first time since I moved in, the whole toilet doesn't wiggle when I sit on it. I'm likely still going to need to futz with the chain, but it doesn't run all the time anymore. It turns out the sound was scaring Livia, so as a bonus she can come get her Bathroom pettins. I ran out of plumber's tape, so we had to goback a third time. Total cost of tolet repair came to a little over $50.
It's been snowing, so me going out is dicey at best, but I had the Doctor today to talk about the month long lung infection and given Saturday's scary high fever, it had become rather urgent. Rando doctor turned out to be cheerful and sexy my agish black doctor, who I have found helpful and delightful in the past, rather than either of the other two rando Doctors who were highly skeptical and not enough up on my case to get why we take my lungs as seriously as we do. I got a z-pac and my throat pearl re-up with a sensible examination and no drama at all. Alas, throat pearls are not covered and I was picking up something like eight prescriptions total, so that was another $23 dollars out of pocket.
I am bleeding money an I haven't paid a single actual bill yet. Sigh.
I did got to the library and the good but expensive neighborhood grocery on the way home were I blew half of wheat's left of this month's ebt on good crackers and the nice oversized kaisers that last pretty well if refrigerated, since pretty much all I've wanted to eat since I got sick is crackers and emergency protein rich assorted types of veggie bugers and half of the ones I have need oversized rolls. (Also Asian food, but I haven't spoons to make anything complicated, not money to order out. As of today I'm sick enough to want magic soup, but thaat's right out due to expense). I got a bunch more emergency protein at the cheap grocery saturday. Icovered the staples then and on the run a weak age. What's left is likely going to be a giant packet of the good black bean veggie burgers later in the month when supplies run low in the freezer and late month perishables. I keep telling myself it's probably okay that I kind of lost it in the cracker aisle.
It is so temperate here generally and getting warmer every year with climate change complete transforming the local systems, that I'd half forgotten what real cold is like. Scarping the car, my finger froze painfully in seconds despite the glove,and full heat on the drive to the doctor couldn't budge it. My permanently damaged toe hates it. I am not handling it well generally, especially because I'm too sick for my body to do even it's usual half ass job of temperature regulation. We used to dig snow tunnels in chest high on my dad sized drifts when I was little to make a snow maze. I remember giant ice sculptures made by teenagers in the street in winter. My school used to make us run in a tee shirt and shorts in the snow. I feel like such a wimp not being able to handle an inch or two with an admittedly unusually high wind chill for here. I'd be fucked if we were getting more than than brushed by the outer edge of the vortex. I didn't even manage a forage, though I technically could have, because I needed to be home before the sun got to low and the temperatures dropped again.
