* So I was rewatching the Faculty, which is not only an amusing horror film of it's period, but fascinating in retrospect for its casting choices. I got mental whiplash as I'd literally turned to it right after the most recent episode of Animal Kingdom, in which Shawn Hatosy's performance as Pope is so taught and full of lizardike controlled menace, yet with such a subtle complexity of emotional response. To suddenly be looking at him 20 years ago being a Jock who wants to be a brain with his...perfectly ordinary body language and fine but nothing special acting.... Wow! It was hard to wrap my head around the difference both in type and quality. he's grown so much as an actor, but then they pretty much all have. I remember us seeing the trailers for it when it was new, and it was the T1000 guy we were all exciting to see. Who knew we were basically looking at a cast of future stars.

The European veil/swimming suit bans (are there any other ones?) make me so angry! In my mind it's basically like if I were forced to go around wearing a crop top everywhere. Fine for some women, but a violation for me. And that's without bringing religion into it! ARG! Obvs the solution is that everyone in Denmark needs to start wearing face coverings. Maybe not veils (is that offensive? is it solely religious?) but something! Something to just break the law until this racist and horrible DANGEROUS shit is done with. *goes screaming off into the night*

Those make me angry too. Women should be allowed to wear whatever the fuck they want.

I'm not muslim, but I am trans and the issue feels very fucking real and immediate to me. The right to exist in public without being assaulted. The right to wear the fuck one wants, especially when swimming.... Yeah.
