* My friends and I were military age when the first Gulf War started. There was hot debaate going on in the months leading up to the start of the ground war as to what each person would do if the draft started. My lover and I sat curled up on his mother's sofa watching the war the night it started. We watched a lot of the bombings and Invasion with friends in reserves or the like. (We had a lot of reserve and ex-military friends who could have been called up as happened later in Gulf War II). Watching the war in Syria this evening felt like that a little like that. The not knowing what would happen. The kind of footage they were showing of the bombings. Of course they did not draft my generation, simply sending Xer and millennial troops back over and over again, destroying so many to no purpose. We didn't know that then. I don't know i we are about to be in a shooting war with Russia now or how many countries Republicans will have us invade this time or how many Millennial and Gen Z are going to get thrown into the meat grinder this time because they can't afford college without the GI Bill. That's why so many of my friends went in to one branch or another either before the first gulf war or in the space between that and 9/11.

I do not know what will happen. It terrifies me that 45 and Bolton will be making these decisions unsupervised by anyone competent. I've been upset that Assad and Putin are using Chemical Weapons against civilians. At the same time I'm not convinced anyone in our executive branch is bright enough to weigh risks or understand the situation in Syria. I don't know what the answers are, and which there was someone sensible with a good grasp of international affairs making this decision. I didn't always agree with President Obama's decisions when it came to military intervention, but I had a really good idea why he made them and could trust that he looked at all available data, weighed advice and made the best decision he could. I'm not convinced 45 thinks at all. I am terrified.

The bank account hole has been plugged and there is enough for insurance auto-draw, but not enough to start paying back the two month's of bills. I hope to put an auction together for next week, but it needs to be a day when I'm together enough to do it sensibly.
