* Rescued! It used to be that if the 2nd fell on a weekend, the government money would come the last business day before. The last couple of years, reguardless of the day of the week the 2nd fell on, they'd pay a day or two late. I'm assuming this has to do with Congress being assholes. They never send the money quite late enough to fuck up our rent, but late enough to make me nervous. I was assuming this meant we'd be lucky to get it Monday. When I got up today, the money was there, which means I'm screwed out of a day of fees, but Hector gets to eat and I'm not screwed out of a couple of hundred dollars like I was expecting with the long weekend. I need to do up another batch of ebays to try to keep my medical bills out of collections. I reached the too allergic for most snake oils point recently, so about half my snakes are going to have to go anyway for all that I love them, including my beloved Temple Viper. I need to pair up the culls, but I have already selected this month's sacrifices. Hector was so sweet this morning, pressing up against me in bed for his lovins. I know he hasn't got a lot of time left and he looks terrible because of the grooming situation, but his quality of life is still reasonable between incidents. He has a tummy full of tuna juice and chicken liver soft goosh and is napping on his podium as I write this.
* You know, as a kid, I spent a lot of time worrying about Danae and Perseus' coffin. Did they get sea sick? Those waves looked rough! Were their airholes? If not, how did they breathe? If so, why didn't they swamp with sea water? Did they have food and water in there? Spare diapers? Where did she go to the bathroom? What is wrong with me that my problem with the original Clash of the Titans was not the giant claymaton monsters or general cheese factor, but the movie opener. I suspect that this is because as someone who spent a lot of time hiding in confined spaces, the practicalities of Danae's situation were relatable to me.
